The Senior Director - Ethics and Compliance - Cork will partner with the Executive Lead Team (ELT), the Global Ethics and Compliance team and relevant business partners to create and implement a compliance strategy that fosters high performance with high integrity and cultivates a speak up culture at Cork.

Organization Overview: 

The scope of the role is focused on enabling organizational adherence to Lilly’s Code of Conduct as defined in The Red Book as well as all applicable laws, regulations, and industry codes of conduct. This role will help deliver on the Ethics & Compliance (E&C) mission to drive the integration of high performance with high integrity across Cork accomplished through effective compliance business partnering, the implementation of an effective compliance program, and providing solution-oriented E&C guidance and advice on overall business strategies, decisions, and activities conducted within Cork and/or overseen by Cork.

Responsibilities:

Cork’s strategy is to ‘Build capabilities for Lilly Globally’ and is an enabler and an organization wide productivity change agent. This position will be the E&C point of contact for the Cork Executive Lead Team and will partner with the business to guide ethical, risk-based decision making while developing the operations necessary to ensure reporting and monitoring requirements are met. Additionally, this role will:

Through proactive partnership with relevant E&C staff, ensure business discussions and decisions encompass and consistently take into consideration appropriate ethics and compliance elements, and that there is clear business ownership of ethics in all decisions taken. Influence leadership through effective communication of the external environment and internal policies/procedures/standards.Provide compliance support and consults to business in collaboration with E&C SMEs to analyze and identify E&C issues within operations, activities, programs and business risks and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, risk assessments, and other compliance controls.Collaborate with E&C compliance personnel to develop and implement monitoring program, risks assessments, training, communications and other and compliance activities. Follow up appropriately with root cause analysis and meaningful corrective actions/preventive actions, with the goal of turning issues into shared learnings and overall process improvements.Engage with site leadership, Indy-based functional leaders, local functional leaders, HR teams and COEs to enhance a culture of integrity and ensure business discussions and decisions consistently take into consideration appropriate E&C elements, and that there is clear business ownership of ethics in all decisions taken. Partner with leadership to ensure the key elements of an effective compliance program are built into local governance, decision forums, and business and operational processes, and are appropriately tailored to Cork activities and operations, enabling the business to meet business goals in an effective and compliant manner that fosters the first-line-of defense mentality, agility and innovation.Influence leadership through effective communication of the external environment and internal policies/standards and assure clarity in both the ‘what’ and the ‘why’ so that business activities are implemented appropriately.Effectively evaluate and communicate the ‘state of control’ to senior leadership through the development and use of key metrics, reporting and data analytics to foster open communication and feedback from leadership teams to ensure suggested controls are adequate for the mitigation of risks.Analyze and identify program and business risks, including providing recommendations of ways to mitigate or resolve potential E&C risks throughout the site. Work with Cork leadership and functional areas to develop and implement effective monitoring program and compliance assessment activities. Follow up appropriately with root cause analysis and meaningful corrective actions / preventive actions. Coordinate with Legal and/or HR to support any corrective/preventative or disciplinary actions resulting from compliance failures. Provide compliance support as needed for investigations of non-compliant activities and appropriate corrective action/disciplinary steps.Be accountable for following up on audit findings as appropriate to the E&C function.   Conduct regular networking with site leadership as well as compliance peers internally and externally to ensure alignment with company policies and compliance objectives and represent Eli Lilly and Company externally with industry Ethics and Compliance organizations as appropriate.

Basic Requirements: 

Bachelor’s Degree10+ years of experience within the pharmaceutical or related healthcare industry, preferably with background in medical affairs, drug development, regulatory, legal, and/or compliance.No known or documented compliance violations within the last 12 months.
