Job Description
SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Vice Provost and Managing Director, Montclair Unbound, The Senior Director for Operations and Online Program Development serves as part of the Academic Affairs team dedicated to supporting the mission of Montclair State University to develop and deliver high impact, flexible programs. The Senior Director partners with academic leadership, faculty, and external partners to identify and develop innovative programs that provide opportunities for a diverse set of learners to advance their professional and educational goals.
Montclair Unbound is a unit within the division of academic affairs, focused on growing and reimagining Montclair State University's portfolio of flexible undergraduate and graduate program offerings. The unit partners with academic leadership, the divisions of Marketing and Communications, Enrollment Management, Information Technology, and other administrative offices, and faculty from across the university to create a comprehensive portfolio of accessible, flexible, market responsive educational opportunities for our diverse community of learners.
Working with the Managing Director, the Senior Director provides leadership in developing and implementing the online learning strategy for the university to include the strengthening of existing programs and the development of new offerings that enhance student success, grow tuition revenue and increase enrollment, recruitment, retention and graduation rates.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Flexible and Online Program Identification and Development
Partner with schools/colleges and external partners to develop innovative programs that meet the needs of a diverse set of learners.
Develops and supports processes focused on a diverse set of learners.
Project Management and Strategic Planning
Manages stakeholder relationships to advance projects and provide support for successful outcomes.
Manage processes for program development and updates.
Assure effective and efficient operations throughout the academic year.
Analyze, evaluate, and share program performance data.
Design and Development Support
Facilitates conversations to drive best practices for learning design.
Drive online program innovation.
Collaborates cross-functionally and contributes to thought leadership for online education.
Supports faculty mentoring and training for online and continuing education.
Engages in campus partnerships for student success and continuous program improvement.
Facilitate and manage relationships with strategic external partners
Manage RFP process.
Serve as key contact for internal and external partner communications.
Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Minimum of ten years of progressive experience in education and project management.
Demonstrated ability to understand strategic organizational development.
Experience managing enrollment, admissions personnel, student financial aid systems, and student retention initiatives in support of program development.
In-depth knowledge of current trends, techniques and tools involved in distance and online learning.
Demonstrated success working with diverse stakeholders to manage complex, cross-functional projects.
Ability to collaboratively lead and work across the organization in change management.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work autonomously, manage, and meet multiple deadlines.
Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong ability to manage details.
Familiarity with educational technology solutions.
Excellent customer service and people skills.
PREFERRED:
Master's or other advanced degree and/or related professional certifications.
Solutions architect in educational and professional services.
