$151,500 - $222,200The Senior Director of HSE Global Manufacturing provides leadership, direction, and oversight of the Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) management system for Lilly Manufacturing to promote the outcomes of injury prevention, risk reduction, and sustainable use of environmental resources. Role responsibilities include continuous improvement of compliance and risk management systems, monitoring HSE performance, facilitating effective governance, and creating linkages within the function. Additional position requirements include managing the Global HSE Manufacturing staff, development of the annual business plan, and leadership of technical and governance teams.
Key Objectives/Deliverables
Functional Leadership for Global Manufacturing
Continually enhance the HSE management system to assure compliance and eliminate risk. Facilitate effective governance at the Senior Leadership level to manage divisional HSE aspects for compliance assurance and performance improvement. Manage Network-specific HSE aspects and issues and drive the functional agenda as a member of the Network Lead Team. Establish annual Manufacturing functional priorities as part of the business planning process, develop goals and targets, and monitor progress through governance forums.Serve as a member of the Global HSE Lead Team responsible for setting strategic direction and monitoring performance of enterprise-wide global functional initiatives.Support Manufacturing’s pursuit of operational excellence by driving functional excellence in systems, programs and people on a global scale. Promote and verify appropriate management of significant HSE aspects to assure business continuity within the Manufacturing organization.Establish Manufacturing- specific HSE standards and documents.Functional Capability
Provide technical expertise and leadership for the Manufacturing HSE function and in support of global Manufacturing sites. In coordination with site HSE Leaders, ensure appropriate resources are available for implementation of the management system and develop talent for the function including future leaders. Develop Manufacturing HSE subject matter experts and technical leadership staff, provide direction and coaching, and manage performance through the Lilly performance management process.Linkages and Integration
Create linkages with global Manufacturing HSE Leaders through 1:1s and functional Leader meetings. Facilitate linkages of HSE professionals within global Manufacturing through working teams, program teams, and other mechanisms.Deliver innovation and performance improvement through external benchmarking of best practices and standardization of internal successes.Maintain strong external networks and champion a consistent external facing orientation.Understand and Translate the Regulated Environment
In close partnership with the Corporate HSE Senior Director, provide external view of trends and best practices through benchmarking, external trade associations, professional conferences, and professional memberships. Interact with external regulatory agencies to support sites with permits and other regulatory issues. Monitor emerging regulations specific to Manufacturing and lead advocacy efforts.Support for Manufacturing Sites
Provide HSE technical and regulatory expertise to sites in support of their site programs and initiatives.Promote standardization within Manufacturing and realize efficiencies through leadership and/or coordination of improvement projects. Collaborate with sites to develop effective HSE plans and promote continuous improvement. Work in close partnership with Facilities Delivery and support site HSE staff to successfully deliver an aggressive Capital Plan for global manufacturing growth.Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related science10+ years leadership experience developing and managing HSE teams and programs10+ years experience in manufacturing (HSE, engineering, or operations-related)Experience within pharmaceutical manufacturingExperience interfacing with regulatory agencies on health, safety, and environmental mattersAdditional Preferences:
