Senior Director of Alumni Relations & Annual Giving - Alumni Relations

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and eight years of related experience.

Preferred Experience:

Professional fundraising experience in an institution of higher learning. Knowledge and experience in Raiser’s Edge software. Experience in hiring, training, and supervising professional staff. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to engage, lead, and motivate groups of diverse individuals ( alumni, donors, volunteers) Ability to collaborate, and build relationships. Ability to manage a large number of alumni and fundraising activities simultaneously. Ability to understand the needs of Constituents. Demonstrated successful project leadership and project implementation. Ability to focus on details and execute the plan.

Job Summary:

Responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction for the alumni relations and annual giving. Responsible for working to coordinate and provide services for the alumni activities of all four schools.  Serves as the liaison to all Alumni Boards.  Oversees activities pertaining to all UTMB annual giving solicitations and communications, reunion giving solicitations, school-based alumni solicitations, parent donations and special group solicitations.

Job Duties:

Administrative

Works collaboratively with the Senior Directors of Development – Major Gifts to: continue building existing relationships, to engage and enhance relationships with alumni, Board members, community partners, UTMB faculty, staff, students, retirees and donors to be involved in the life of UTMB and to be philanthropic partners. Oversees and directs annual giving programs and alumni relations. In concert with VP & CDO, establishes goals for Alumni Relations and Annual Giving. Manages budget for Alumni Relations & Annual Giving. Responsible for supporting the Vice President, and Chief Development Officer in all aspects of the annual fund specifically through strategic and operational planning guidance and by ensuring that required infrastructure and support services are in place. Oversee the success of alumni events such as the annual homecoming events, Welcome Weekend events, and various other annual alumni events.  Work closely with the Stewardship Team on organizing Scholarship Luncheons. Manage the School of Medicine Alumni Board of Trustees activity including annual board meetings and committee work. Maintain ongoing communication with members of the board to ensure meaningful involvement with the university and its alumni. Supervise and provide leadership to the directors of alumni and parent relations and annual giving to ensure that overall goals are reached. Responsible for the human resource activities for alumni relations and annual giving area positions. Prepare quarterly reports for the Deans of the four schools.

Manages Budget for Alumni Relations and Annual Giving

Strategic Planning

Work closely with the Vice President and Chief Development Officer to create, implement, and refine an annual strategic plan and Supporting Goals for the Alumni Relations and Annual Giving team.  Support, guide, and direct the expansion of annual giving programs to include student and employee giving campaigns, reunion giving, parent programs, President’s Cabinet, graduating class fundraising, scholarship and faculty endowment special letter solicitations, and special appeals. Systematically cultivates and maintains collaborative relationships with key faculty members, i.e. the Deans of the 4 schools, and administrators to achieve annual goals. Provide vision, creativity, and direction to alumni relations and annual giving staff in defining the case for support and program parameters for annual giving solicitations including alumni solicitations, as well as communications pertaining to alumni relations and annual giving. Provide an expanded and more diverse opportunity for alumni involvement in programs. Plan and develop strategies for engaging alumni in the support of their UTMB school. Perform related duties as assigned.

Working Environment:

Will be required to attend after-hours functions and will involve some travel.

Salary Range:

Actual salary commensurate with experience.
