Senior Director of Engineering
Job Description

 

The Sr. Director of Enginering will create, develop, implement and maintain an energetic, creative and highly talented engineering team to sustain the current products and develop new products which directly impact product quality, reliability, cost and time to market. The products are associated with oil-free turbo compressors equipped with variable speed drives and active magnetic bearings.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following.

The essential tasks include sustaining and improving the current product designs, developing new products, supporting production and customer issues in the form of cross-functional activities. Manage group resources and priorities. Responsible to complete tasks on time and on cost with world class quality. Responsible of the group budget. Responsible to hire, maintain and develop highly talented, dedicated and creative staff at all levels within the group. Responsible to lead team from architect to detailed design to implement, document and validate/verify world class highly integrated products with advanced mechanical/ electronics/ embedded/ and aero-thermal systems. Responsible to maintain and improve the engineering processes, procedures and tools for sustainable quality and reliability. Responsible to implement and maintain modern version control and document control systems and protect the company assets in a professional safe manner by utilizing the PLM tools and systems. Responsible to maintain and improve the design documents including the Bill of Material of the company legacy products. Participate in the department tasks, performing product design, design review, validation/ verification, implementation, and documentation.  Participate cross-functional activities in projects, problem solving and process improvements. Actively participate customer system solution integrations, and other direct engineering-to-engineering communications / workshops with customers. Continuously sustain and enhance the necessary personal and team knowledge in the field of engineering. Develop and enhance the mindset and competences of design for manufacturability and reliability. Maintaining a clean, safe and orderly workplace. Understanding and complying with quality policy, procedures and instructions to ensure product quality, customer satisfaction, attainment of business goals and environmental well-being. Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent. 5+ years experiences as a senior engineering manager/director in the fields of mechanical and electronic systems A proven track record for hiring and developing world class talent. Solid background and experience in engineering management including sustaining engineering, new product developments, process development and resources management.


Preferred Qualifications: 

Experiences in technology projects with high level of uncertainties and manufacturing are preferred.


Job Criteria:

Fluently read, speak and write in English. Ability to articulate and communicate effectively from details to strategies to the company leadership team, vendors and customers. Ability to prepare program summaries for peer and executive reviews. Able to plan, organize and facilitate efficient working-level and review level meetings.  Ability to apply mathematical and engineering principles to computations with various tools. Ability to define problems, collect and organize data, analyze the data to develop and prove a hypothesis and articulate results/conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form with multiple abstract and concrete variables.  Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Proficiency in using modern engineering tools at least in one of the engineering fields.  Knowledgeable and well informed on new trends in relevant engineering and manufacturing technologies.  Strong analytical and technical skills.   Experience working with external consultants and other Danfoss business units is a plus.
