Primary Duties & Responsibilities
• Provide engineering/technical leadership on the advanced fiber optics development of the Coherent’s datacom business unit, with special emphasis on the high density datacom optics, such as CPO, NPO, and optical engines.
• Provide engineering leadership and work together with corporate technology team, marketing team, and multiple function groups/design centers to develop new product roadmap and define technology development strategy.
• Drive the development of new technology platforms for the next generation of advanced optical transceiver products.
• Direct advanced product development and drive the NPI and customer qualification process for successfully commercialization.
• Provide leadership and as key interface with key suppliers, both internal and external, of critical components, such as laser/modulator, packaging, and key ASICs, on the development of advanced components for the next gen transceivers.
• Understand and influence the industry direction/trend through interaction with customers and various standard bodies and MSA groups.
Education & Experience
• Ph D or Master degree in Physics/EE/ME or related field.
• 15+ years of experience in optical transceiver product design and development. Direct experiences in silicon photonic and CPO development are desired.
• Proven track records on leading the design and development of the advanced fiber optics for both datacom and telecom applications and successful customer qualifications.
• Technical leadership and management experiences in managing a diverse engineering team.
• Deep knowledge in datacom optical technologies. Deep understanding of customer requirement for both current and future products.
• Demonstrable ability to build the engineering team, including hiring, developing, and retaining the key engineering talents.
• Manage and motivate the engineering teams across multiple functions to work together closely to maintain Coherent’s leadership in the advanced datacom optics development.

Working Conditions
• Travel of roughly 15% will be required to Coherent Sites and Customer visits.
