Position Overview
The Senior Director of Hydrogen Projects will be a key leader in the strategic planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale capital hydrogen projects. This role requires a visionary leader with extensive experience in managing mega projects in Western Canada and a proven track record of successfully delivering complex, high-budget projects. The Senior Director will lead cross-functional teams, drive project delivery, and ensure alignment with the organization’s strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for hydrogen projects, ensuring alignment with the company’s vision and long-term goals. Provide strong leadership to project teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence. Project Development: Oversee the entire lifecycle of hydrogen projects, from initial concept and feasibility studies to design, construction, and commissioning. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Technical Expertise: Utilize advanced knowledge of hydrogen production, storage, and distribution technologies to guide project development. Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes to maintain a competitive edge. Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, investors, and community groups. Effectively communicate project status, challenges, and achievements to all relevant parties. Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with hydrogen projects. Implement robust risk management frameworks and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Financial Oversight: Manage project budgets, forecasts, and financial performance. Secure funding and investment for projects, and ensure sound financial practices are followed throughout the project lifecycle. Team Development: Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of professionals. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that encourages professional growth and development.Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field is required. Experience: Minimum of 25 years of experience in project management, with at least 10 years in a senior leadership role overseeing large capital projects, preferably in Western Canada. Solid understanding of the execution methodologies available in Western Canada and various trade-offs. Industry Knowledge: Solid industry knowledge and credibility. Adaptability: Ability to work in a dynamic and evolving business environment, including with different cultures (including potential partners). Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams. Strong strategic thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively engage with a wide range of stakeholders and present complex information clearly and concisely. Financial Acumen: Strong financial management skills, with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and securing project funding. Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
