Your Role at Baxter:

Baxter’s Pharmaceuticals Segment delivers differentiated hospital pharmaceuticals in areas of pain, critical care, anti-infection, and oncology. This $2.2B segment includes Injectables & Anesthesia ($1.3B) and Drug Compounding ($.9B) businesses; and reporting 6% annual growth in 2023. Investing in growth opportunities and completing a robust pipeline of product launches are vital for ongoing growth.

As the Senior Director of Process and Platform Development you will join our Pharmaceuticals Research and Development (R&D) team. You will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of sterile manufacturing processes and drug delivery platforms to support the design, development, and scale up manufacturing of Baxter's differentiated pharmaceutical products.  Bring your R&D sterile injectables experience and grow your career making an impact to save and sustain lives!

What You’ll Be Doing:

Develop and implement strategies for process and platform development, aligning with Baxter's overall business strategy and objectives.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify process gaps and opportunities for improvement, and develop and implement solutions to enhance efficiency, quality, and speed-to-market.

Lead the development and implementation of new technologies, tools, and methodologies to support R&D efforts.

Manage process and platform development priorities, budgets, resources, and timelines, ensuring efficient utilization and adherence to project commitments.

Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging creativity, and promoting a data-driven mindset within the R&D team.

Lead and mentor a diverse team of process and platform engineers and scientists, providing guidance, coaching, and support for professional development.

Build and maintain relationships with external partners, such as suppliers, academic institutions, regulatory bodies, and industry organizations.

Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape, and leverage this knowledge to drive innovation and differentiation in Baxter's R&D efforts.

Expected travel 10%.

Your Team:

As the Senior Director of Process and Platform Development you will report directly to the Vice President Pharmaceuticals R&D.  Furthermore, you will lead a team of ~20 Process Engineers and work collaboratively across the organization.

Your Location:

The role is located at our R&D facility in the greater Chicago, IL area northern suburb of Round Lake.  Relocation assistance will be considered.  Baxter is committed to supporting the needs for flexibility in the workplace. What You’ll Bring:

MS or PhD in a relevant engineering or scientific field (e.g., biomedical engineering, materials science, chemistry, or related subject areas).

Minimum of 10 years of experience in sterile dosage form development and/or drug delivery technologies.

Knowledge and expertise in process validation.

Strong understanding of sterile dosage form development and regulatory requirements, including FDA and international standards.

Demonstrated success in leading and managing cross-functional teams, driving innovation, and delivering high-quality pharmaceutical products.

Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Proven ability to lead change, adapt to new challenges, and navigate complex organizational structures.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Experience with digitalization, automation, and data analytics tools and methodologies.

At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $208,000 - $286,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and/or long-term incentive.
