MV Transportation provides safe and reliable bus transportation and maintenance services to transit agencies, corporations, and schools across the U.S. and Canada. In operation for 50 years, MV is the largest privately held transit operator in the U.S., with market-leading positions in both paratransit and fixed route bus service segments, moving more than 110 million bus passengers per year.
The team
MV’s operations are organized by geographical region. Each region is led by a Regional Vice President, who has a team of director-level support in Safety, Finance, Maintenance, and Human Resources. Procurement is a centralized corporate function, providing support to the regional teams and managing the entire lifecycle of sourcing and procurement projects, from strategic planning to supply chain management.
The team is organized by direct and indirect spend, including oversight of the p-card and travel card programs. The role has four key areas of accountability: 1) developing product category buy strategies and managing vendors; 2) managing bids and contract negotiations; 3) business decision support; and 4) ensuring compliance with best practices.
Work you’ll do
Develop product category buy strategies
Develop strategies on key commodity / product / service purchases and drive savings through volume leverage, supplier concentration, and competitive bidding processes.Develop partnerships with key vendors, including DBE’s, to reduce cost and ensure on-time supply.Manage bids and contract negotiations
Manage the full lifecycle of procurement projects: from planning and bid preparation to sourcing decisions and budgeting/forecasting spend.Negotiate long term agreements to drive cost improvements through continuous review and revision as business needs or the market change.Business decision support
Support Operations and Maintenance in evaluating innovative solutions for supply chain and inventory management.Partner with corporate departments on indirect spend initiatives.Ensure compliance with best practices
Establish and monitor department KPI’s as well as regional spend goals/metrics.Monitor and evaluate supplier performance against metrics for price, quality, and delivery.Key attributes you’ll need to be successful
