Job Description:
The Senior Drilling Engineer provides the engineering experience and expertise needed for well design, well planning, and preparation of drilling programs that safely and compliantly conform to well objectives. They support the WSUP in execution of well operations by delivering high level drilling engineering leadership, support, and assurance. They also support the Drilling Engineering Manager (Discipline Lead) in the coaching and development of Drilling Engineers.
Key Accountabilities
Provides the engineering expertise required to deliver well designs, planning, and programmes that conform to business objectives, are in compliance with local regulations, and are in conformance with all BP Practices and Procedures.
Works with cross-functional peers in wells engineering, wells operations, and subsurface to ensure that drilling engineering, well planning, and design conform to all project business objectives.
Supports the WSUP and the Drilling Engineering Manager in execution of well operations by leading delivery of drilling engineering support and assurance.
Provides coaching and mentoring support to less experienced DE staff. This position can also fill the role of squad leader in agile teams.
Education and Experience
Minimum B.S. Degree in Engineering from an accredited and recognized university.
Minimum of 10 years post-degree relevant work experience in Drilling Engineering.
Experience working in offshore Trinidad environment across exploration and development wells using both Jack-up and Floating Rigs.
Experience with Subsea wells from a Jack-up is preferred.
Strong operational / wellsite Supervisory experience and exposure to Multi-discipline operations is
preferred.
Well Control Certificate desired
