Role description
Our National Ecology team is seeking a Senior Ecologist – Fauna to bring technical expertise and leadership to a highly capable and industry-respected team. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to major infrastructure and specialist ecology projects across NSW, QLD, and VIC.

Role Accountabilities
As a Senior Ecologist – Fauna, your responsibilities will include:
Providing technical expertise in fauna ecology across a broad range of complex projects, ensuring innovative and high-quality deliverables. Supporting the NSW Environment Team Leader and National Ecology Lead in driving business development initiatives to maintain a sustainable pipeline of work for the growing team and strengthening the Arcadis brand within the ecology space. Ensuring technical excellence in fauna-related deliverables through robust quality assurance processes. Proactively managing selected projects or components of projects, including resource allocation, quality assurance, client engagement, and effective communication with stakeholders. Mentoring and developing emerging ecologists, with a focus on enhancing their skills in fieldwork, fauna assessment, technical reporting, and client/project management. Acting as a role model for collaboration, technical innovation, and fostering an inclusive and engaging team culture.Qualifications and Experience

Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, ecology, biology, or a related discipline, with a strong focus on fauna ecology. At least 7 years of experience delivering ecological surveys and assessments in accordance with the BAM. Extensive post-graduate experience, including managing resources, supervising projects, and applying industry standards. Strong technical capability in biodiversity field assessments, particularly in fauna identification, habitat assessment, and impact evaluation. Demonstrated experience in ecological impact assessments, including fauna-related studies and reporting. Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM) accreditation, or the ability and willingness to acquire accreditation. A proven track record of client-focused project delivery, including managing commercial aspects and building effective client relationships.
