About You and this Role

Dow has multiple openings for a Senior EH&S Technician in Freeport, TX. One of these positions is aligned to Diamond Infrastructure Solutions.

 

Shares responsibility for the implementation of the EH&S management system, in order to meet business objectives and to maintain the license to operate. Provides hands-on environmental, industrial hygiene (IH), and health and safety (H&S) activities for a specific plant. Requires full proficiency in a range of technical, operational, or analytical/scientific processes and procedures through job-related training and considerable on the job experience to perform a variety of work assignments. Acts as an informal resource for team members with less experience.

 

Responsibilities

Implements detailed, task level, day to day EH&S programs, utilizing the EH&S work process, standards and procedures.Ensures that the Environmental, IH, and Health and Safety aspects of operating discipline are adequate and applied to achieve EH&S performance goals. In most cases, would perform the role of section owner for the EH&S sections of operating discipline.Acts as the Maintenance Zone resource for related EH&S information on procedures, guidelines and standards.Serves as the Maintenance Zone contact for Environmental, IH, and Health and Safety issues.Coaches teams and individuals on EH&S related tasks and activities.Assists in developing and achieving area or plant EH&S goals.Ensures compliance tasks are completed.Performs/coordinates certain Environmental, and IH monitoring, data collection, analyzing and reporting for the Plant.Contract partner assigned focal point.

 

Requirements

A minimum of a High School Diploma/GED Equivalent.2+ years of experience in health and safety is required.Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and have the ability to learn new systems quickly.Must have a current, valid US driver’s license.A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

 

Preferred Skills

Associate’s degree, or higher, in relevant field OR 3+ years military experience preferred.Prior experience in manufacturing preferred.Prior experience with IH (industrial hygiene) preferred.

Physical Requirements

Must be willing and able to work in such environments wearing safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.Must be willing and able to use a respirator.Must be willing and able to climb stairs/ladders and working high off the ground.Must be willing and able to stand or walk for extended periods of time.
