Senior Electrical Designer

The Senior Electrical Designer II is responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for various projects. They work closely with engineers and other team members to create detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications. They also participate in project meetings, provide technical support, and ensure compliance with industry codes and standards. The Senior Electrical Designer II may also mentor and provide guidance to junior designers and drafters. Strong technical skills, knowledge of electrical design software, and the ability to collaborate effectively are essential for success in this role.

Job Responsibilities 

To create specific point to point wiring diagrams and back pan layouts for electrical switchgear, motor control, and power control rooms. Design custom/semi-custom products to meet customer electrical specifications. Produce print-to-point wiring diagrams from control schemes. Check wiring diagrams. Gain familiarity with electrical design and circuitry. Gain familiarity with industry codes and standards. Create basic design drawings with assistance. Update drawings per engineering and/or customer markups with direction from engineering personnel and transmit drawings to shop and customer. Complete "As Built" drawings in order to learn about drawing packages. Attend in house and outside training sessions. Learn policies and procedures, work instruction, ISO policies, Safety Rules and Regulations, and vendor products.

Minimum Qualifications 

High School Graduate or GED. Minimum 4-8 years of experience in an Engineering/Designing role.

Skills, Abilities & Other Requirements 

Basic computer skills using Oracle, Word, Excel. Ability to order material electronically. Basic drafting/CAD skills. Able to read and interpret electrical symbols, characters, and drawings. Able to apply NEC, ANSI, and Other as it applies to the day-to-day activity.

Working & Environmental Conditions 

Working Conditions 

Temperature controlled working environment. Some outside activities may be required. This position may travel out-of-town to attend training and meetings. Typical office environment: may experience minor discomfort from extensive use of a computer display and keyboard; travel between buildings on campus and between campuses.

Physical Requirements

Maintaining body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs. Sitting, standing and walking for long periods of time. Typing, punching or applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm.
