Senior Electrical Designer (DOE Project)

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is recruiting for a, Senior Electrical Designer, for a 8-month contract assignment supporting the UPF project in Oak Ridge, TN. This onsite role offers a W2 hourly base rate with time and a half for overtime, per diem, and mobilization / demobilization.
U.S. Citizenship required.
Our client is targeting $80.00 to $85.00//hour for this role.
Project Overview:
This position will provide support to the Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) located at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, TN. UPF is a multi-year, multi-billion-dollar project and will be a first-of-its-kind complex for enriched uranium operations. The UPF project works on a 4/10 schedule. Start times are flexible but the standard work week is Monday - Thursday from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm.
Responsibilities:
Works under the direction of more senior engineers/designers. Electrical Physical (and circuit and raceway) design activities for raceway design, equipment location and layout, C&R schedule inputting and update using Setroute, conduit and raceway design. Responsible to produce lower and higher tier drawings and documentation in accordance with established conceptual design and scope, including design of lighting, grounding layout, grounding designs/calculations, and lightning protection systems Develops specifications for equipment and material where deviation from standard documentation is required Responsibilities also include ensuring that the electrical system design comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards. May interface with Construction and Subcontractors.
Education / Experience: Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or similar field. 8+ years of proven design experience with 2D MicroStation CADD, SmartSketch, and S3D skills for modelling and raceway design activities. Must have experience with an electronic Cable Management System, such as the SETROUTE program, and be able to input and complete corrections to the data base. Must have experience with modelling of equipment and raceway design for cable trays, conduits, and supports. Extensive knowledge & application of NEC code and ANSI/IEEE Standards. Ability to cope with conflicting deadline, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks. Demonstrate leadership qualities with emphasis on continuous improvement and team building, and interpersonal communication skills. Hands on Microsoft office programs and other computer programs. Excellent oral & written communications skills. Must be able to effectively communicate, and work well with others, other disciplines and within a team. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications: Familiar with design of nuclear facilities. Hands-on experience with Cable pull calculation and lighting analysis using AGI32 software. Hands-on use in a 3D electrical model design platform and electrical design. Previous Bechtel and/or DOD or DOE project experience.
