Michael Baker’s first office in Alaska opened in 1942. Since then, we have played a key role in some of Alaska’s most renowned infrastructure projects, including groundbreaking projects on the North Slope and the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System. SENIOR ELECTRICAL ENGINEER
We are actively seeking an energetic and knowledgeable individual to fill a Senior Electrical Engineer position in our Anchorage office. The successful candidate will lead the electrical, instrumentation, and control designs for power distribution systems, generation facilities, and other heavy industrial facilities. This position will support multi-discipline designs where strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment is required. This is a senior level position that requires the ability to work independently without supervision and with a high level of accountability. Duties include the development of standard professional electrical engineering design deliverables, construction support, and interacting with clients. Other duties include:
Develop standard engineering deliverables including drawings, specifications, calculations, testing requirements, acceptance criteria, etc. Perform standard electrical engineering system modeling and calculations including load calculations, protective device coordination, arc flash calculations, circuit sizing, power flow, etc. Develop equipment data sheets and bill of materials. Provide procurement and construction support including site inspections. Support proposal development including fee and schedule estimating. Lead and mentor junior team members. Additional duties as assigned.PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution. State of Alaska Professional Engineer (PE). 8+ years of experience with increasing levels of responsibility. Experience in the design of power generation and power distribution systems up to 35kV. Alaska Oil & Gas industry experience. Arctic engineering design experience. Proficiency in standard engineering design and Office productivity software (EasyPower, Excel, etc.). Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.The Following Qualifications/Skills are a Benefit, but not Required:
Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution. Power system design experience at voltage levels greater than 35kV. RCDD certification or the ability to get a RCDD certification. Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) systems. Professional Project Management (PMP) certification.COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $120,037 – $207,197. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
