The Senior Electrical Engineer will work collaboratively to support clients and internal teams within complex multi-discipline engineering projects. The ideal candidate will have a rich history in delivering electrical design projects and a keen interest in design, construction, financials, contracts, and schedules. They will also support consulting/assessment services (Ex. Power and energy studies),  as needed. The Senior Electrical Engineer will execute engineering design for a diverse range of building types facilitating client meetings, partnering closely with other engineering and/or architecture team members, as well as contractors, installers, and utilities. The ideal candidate should have the ability to design new systems or find solutions for existing system upgrades. Experience in the Electric Vehicle infrastructure experience is highly preferred.  

 

Location Preference for this role is in Southern California; however, remote locations will be considered for the ideal candidate

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other job-related duties may be assigned in conformance with state and federal regulations.

 

The Senior Electrical Engineer will work directly on projects and responsible for design of power, lighting, Fire alarm, Telecommunications, load calculations, Title 24 (California Energy Code) modeling, studies, energy audits, facilities condition assessments, and construction administration, plan review, and plan check. This project-related work will also include the preparation of contract plans and specifications, cost estimates, technical reports/studies, proposals, and presentations. The Senior Electrical Engineer will be able to develop scopes of work, delegate assignments, manage scope, schedule, resources, and budget. The Senior Electrical Engineer will also potentially support and/or conduct consulting exercises such as power/energy studies and navigate/facilitate client solutions meetings. This role requires an ability to work on projects from concept stage through construction. The Senior Electrical Engineer will research, design, and provide construction document layout for the electrical design team to meet client’s requirements in both large and small projects. They will consult on electrical design for a wide range of projects (including electrical vehicle) and work with other engineers, architects, project managers, and construction professionals as needed to create and/or modify design parameters. The Senior Electrical Engineer will communicate directly with clients to understand project requirements, goals, design specifications, and operational environments to evaluate cost, feasibility, and implementation of electrical design. The Senior Electrical Engineer will be required to supervise electrical designers. The Senior Electrical Engineer will have complete responsibility and accountability of the engineering team with responsibilities over scope, schedule, and budget of projects, programs, and/or initiatives. The Senior Electrical Engineer will have the ability to develop business proposals related to electrical field.      Follow best practices and company standards for technical excellence and delivery. Ensure all completed projects comply with relevant codes, regulations, and quality standards. Conduct field visits to assess project viability and progress, providing detailed reports as needed. Maintain strong client relationships through regular communication, updates, and collaborative decision-making. Stay current with industry trends, new materials, and innovative design techniques. Protects operations by keeping company information confidential. Use of professional discretion and judgement is mandatory. Demonstrates BV’s guiding principles in support of the company's strategic goals. Follows all documented policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and Work Instructions applicable to the position and support of BV's quality standards and strategic initiatives. Maintains safe and clean work area by complying with all procedures, rules, and regulations. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job.

Education and/or Experience: 

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Preferred: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and/or Engineering Project Management Required: 10+ years’ experience in building design of institutional, educational, healthcare, public, and private development. Required: 2+ years’ experience in project management including supervisory responsibilities. Preferred: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit. Preferred: Electric Vehicle Infrastructure experience. Preferred: Familiarity with California projects and codes. Must have the ability to work independently, as well as supervising others.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Required: Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of California. Valid driver's license required with no significant MVA points/violations (clean driving record). Employees who incur $2,000 or more per year in company-related travel expenses will be required to obtain a Corporate Credit Card. Employees who incur less than $2,000 per year in company-related travel expenses will be required to have sufficient personal credit to cover their business travel costs.

Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule. Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought. Highly collaborative spirit and experience working in a team Problem-solving skills to quickly address issues that arise on-site and keep projects on track

 

Language Ability: Ability to draft reports, business correspondence, and standard operating procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, peers, and technical field staff.

 

Reasoning Ability:  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. 

 

Technology Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in operating a computer, having knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, and project management software, to include AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Suite and business specific software and other project-specific applications. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to operate an electronic tablet in the field for live data collection.
