This is a permanent, full-time, exempt-level position.
Position Summary:
The Senior Electrical Engineer-Electrical Studies position is part of the Electrical group and will be tasked within the North American geographic region.
This Senior Electrical Engineer will apply technical knowledge and expertise in support of electrical systems studies including short-circuit, arc flash, equipment protection, and coordination studies.
Successful candidate will have strong understanding of and experience with electrical distribution equipment, service transformers, switchgear, switchboard, motor control centers, distribution system layout, and lighting.
Essential Job Functions:Review and validate each location single line diagram to ensure consistency with SKM electrical modelDevelop validation and calibration schedule for the SKM models to ensure that electrical model reflects the plant’s physical realityConduct electrical studies to determine available fault current and the integrity of the existing electrical protection schemeReview, edit/ modify and approve arch flash reports from contractors. Ensure that reports comply with the latest iteration of IEEE Standard 1584 and NFPA 70EWhere the arc flash reports illustrates underrated equipment, provide support to the plant to ensure the most optimal solutions to the problem(s)Perform load flow and other relevant studies to inform design decisions, and guide the locations with respect to attributes of electrical system elementsProvide support with respect to updating the various studies guidelines and technical manualsAssist with developing, documenting, and continuous improving of electrical safety programProvide guidance and the relevant training to new contractors/ vendors with respect to ADM modelling guidelines and QA/ QC measures and expectations

Required Qualifications:Tertiary level electrical engineering qualificationsElectrical power distribution and design experienceNational Electrical Code, IEEE standard 1584 and NFPA 70E knowledgeWorking knowledge of common electrical systems drawings and documentation, such as electrical plans and elevations, conduit and cable schedules, one-line diagrams, MCC and switchgear layouts and details, electrical panel schedules, wiring and motor-control diagrams, schematics, P&IDs, lighting plans, specification sheets, and motor listsStrong understanding of time current curves and coordination analysisKnowledge of the NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, ANSI, IEEE 1584, and OSHA requirements in relation to electrical power systems studiesExperience using written and verbal communication skills effectively in a professional environmentProficiency in Microsoft Office applications: (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Proficiency with the use of SKM PowerTools software
