Our client, a leading engineering & construction contractor with a reputation for delivering world-class projects across a diverse range of industries, is urgently looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Quantity Surveyor. As a Senior Electrical Quantity Surveyor, you will oversee the cost management of electrical components in large-scale projects ensuring effective cost control, contract management, and financial reporting of a Hyperscale Data Centre project. This offer is available under the terms of a Belgian/UK contract, EU/Belgium resident permit holders are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities & Requirements:
Reporting to the Commercial Lead you will prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts for electrical work, ensuring project costs are controlled and remain within the budget.
Oversee the procurement process for electrical contractors and suppliers, preparing tender documentation, evaluating bids, and negotiating contracts to ensure cost efficiency.
Manage pre and post-contracts throughout the project lifecycle in collaboration with Project Manager/Director, ensuring that contractual obligations are met, and all financial aspects are handled in line with contractual terms.
Perform regular valuations of works completed on-site and prepare interim valuations for payment ensuring timely submission and approval of payment applications.
Assess variations and change orders related to electrical works, ensuring that all adjustments to the scope of work are accurately documented and reflected in the project’s financials.
Prepare and present regular financial reports, cost summaries, and forecasts to senior management, providing insight into project cost performance and profitability.
Identify potential financial risks related to electrical installations and proactively develop strategies to resolve issues/delays.
Work closely with project managers, project directors, engineers, clients, and contractors to provide cost-related insights.
Prepare and agree on final accounts, ensuring all costs are accounted for and settled promptly, and that the project is closed out in accordance with contractual requirements.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior quantity surveyors and other team members, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
Degree/qualifications in Quantity Surveying/Construction Economics.
5-10 years' experience in Electrical Quantity Surveyor role within construction preferably in Data Centre projects.
Strong knowledge of electrical systems and installations with quantity surveying software proficiency.
Deep understanding of construction contracts, cost control methods, and financial reporting processes with ability to manage project budgets and maximise profitability.
Effective communication skills, with the ability to prepare detailed reports and effectively negotiate with contractors, suppliers, and clients.
