As the pioneer and world leader of the oil-free centrifugal compressor product category with its award winning Variable Speed, Magnetic Bearing Compressors, Danfoss Turbocor is dedicated to the design, manufacture, marketing and support of the world’s most efficient commercial refrigerant compressors. The result is the world’s first totally oil-free compressor specifically designed for the HVAC industry.
The Software and Electronics team is enhancing the embedded microprocessor based electronic controls and customer experience for our next generation of products. The successful candidate will play an integral part in architecting and developing the real-time control system for this new exciting platform based on industry leading design concepts and technologies with our team in Tallahassee, FL. In addition, this role will support our existing products which are in production.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following.
• Lead and drive the definition of embedded microprocessor based electronic controls including requirements, design, qualification, and life cycle support• Technical responsibility in all aspects of control electronics design including components, circuits, modules and system integration
o Product/Component requirements
o Component selection and evaluation
o Circuit design, analysis and debugging (analog, digital and switching power supply)
o PCB layout design and manufacturing documentation
o Functional/Reliability verification and validation
o Product certification (e.g. UL, CSA, CE, FCC, etc…)
o Production Test Specifications
o Failure mode root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Responsible for maintaining up to date knowledge of development environment, simulation tools and industry trends
• Work collaboratively within the team and with other teams at Danfoss Turbocor
• Participate in new technology research and development projects as requested
• May include responsibility to travel to visit suppliers, manufacturing facilities and customer sites when necessary. Background & Skills
Required (basic) qualifications
Minimum bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in electronics, specifically embedded microprocessor based electronic control and mixed circuit design
• Experience with electronics hardware development from concept to full production manufacturing.
• Sound fundamentals in electrical circuit analysis. (Op-amps, filters, etc)
• Basic understanding of power converters topologies (Buck, Linear, Flyback, Etc)
• Basic understanding of temperature sensors, relays, stepper motors for industrial applications.
Preferred qualifications
• Familiarity with multiple communications media and protocol such as wired, wireless, RS-485, CAN, Modbus, TCP/IP, 802.11, etc.
• Experience leading projects and development teams in a matrix organization
• Well informed on current trends in Microcontroller, embedded and low power Analog/Digital control electronic technologies
• Experience in working in a multinational multifacility manufacturing environment
