The Senior Embedded Controls Firmware Engineer will have demonstrated the ability to architect, develop, test, release, and maintain into production embedded systems software, implemented on microprocessor-based power converters, energy storage subsystems, and switchgear, requiring precise, real-time performance. Successful candidates should be passionate about enhancing system performance and continually adding new features and functionality to our family of advanced power electronics products. The successful candidate will be comfortable operating in a fast-moving internal startup type environment as a team player and self-starter, who often takes initiative from within teams to bring projects to completion. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Contribute to overall system architecture definition for sophisticated power converters, switch gear, and energy storage equipmentEvaluate, model, implement, and test advanced, high-performance communication & control strategiesDevelop and document software with appropriate formalism for safety critical applications as described in UL 1998Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related discipline, Computer Science or Physics5+ years of relevant work experience including the development and deployment of real-time embedded software and control systems for custom hardware platformsPreferred Qualifications
MS/PhD degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Physics with 3-5 or more years' experience in the development and deployment of real-time embedded SW and control systems for custom HW platformsFormal training and implementation experience with Digital Signal Processing and Control TheoryPrior design experience with Cortex family of 32 bits microprocessors, M0, M3, etc.Prior experience in the development and documentation of embedded software compliant to formal safety certification processes such as UL1998 or similarPrior experience developing SW for Power Electronics applications e.g. Precision Motor and Servo controls, Uninterruptable Power Supplies, solar power inverters, etc.Prior experience with the implementation of Distributed Energy Resources such as Solar/PV Inverters or Wind TurbinesExperience with test equipment typically used for embedded electronics development such as Logic Analyzers, high performance Oscilloscopes and Spectrum Analyzers, etc.This position will be based in the Pacific Palisades, CA, near Santa Monica, CA.
Generac is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role based in (Pacific Palisades, CA ) is $130,000 - $200,000. This compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications and geographic location. This role is eligible for variable compensation including short term and long term incentives
