R48402 Senior Embedded Engineer

Job Description

Motorola Solutions is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Embedded Engineer to design and develop innovative, mission-critical device-based solutions for our advanced Android enabled two-way radios. This role focuses on Embedded Linux development while offering the opportunity to enhance your skills in a technology-driven and collaborative environment. Existing knowledge of the Android platform is a plus but not essential.

In this position, you will:

Work closely with hardware and software teams to help define objectives, design innovative features, and deliver high-quality, reliable solutions that meet the demands of mission-critical applications.

Lead efforts in custom hardware platform bring-up, including the development and integration of Linux device drivers, filesystem configuration, bootloader setup, and system performance optimization for embedded applications.

Play a pivotal role in the full software development lifecycle, including definition of specifications, architecture design, implementation, testing, and review.

Actively participate as a core member of an Agile Scrum development team, contributing to the delivery of high-quality, collaborative solutions.

Maintain high coding standards and push for continuous improvement in both the process and the product, keeping up with the latest industry trends and technological advancements.

Contribute to the integration of new technologies and methodologies to enhance productivity and efficiency within the team.

Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering a culture of learning and professional growth within the team.

Embrace new technology challenges with an innovative and adaptable mindset, consistently proposing creative and effective solutions.

Essential Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications or Computer Science.

Solid understanding of software engineering principles, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.

Proven experience (3+ years) in Embedded Linux development, including board bring-up on custom hardware platforms.

Comprehensive understanding of Linux kernel concepts, including memory management, interrupt and event handling, synchronization mechanisms, subsystem infrastructure, CPU resource management, and file system operations within the Linux kernel environment.

Proficiency in C/C++ programming.

Proficiency in different device driver frameworks for Linux.

Experience with a variety of test equipment, including hardware debuggers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other diagnostic tools.

Proficient in reading and interpreting schematics and hardware design documentation, with a strong understanding of hardware requirements and their integration with embedded Linux systems.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Nice-to-Have Experience

Knowledge of Android development using Java or Kotlin and familiarity with Android SDK, NDK, and Android Studio.

Familiarity with Android framework components (e.g., Bluetooth, sensors, widgets, and services).

Knowledge of Android security features and mechanisms.

Exposure to modern mobile and frontend build pipelines and tools.

Familiarity with automated build systems, continuous integration, and deployment frameworks.
