The Opportunity with McKinstry
We are adding a Senior Employee Relations HRBP to our growing People team in Seattle, Washington. In this role, you will be on the HR Business Partner team and focus on employee relations issues and investigations company-wide for the HR team. You will consult closely with HR Business Partner colleagues, legal counsel and corporate/business leaders on complex employee-related concerns, either conducting investigations themselves, or coaching HR peers/colleagues (other HRBPs and PRPs) through the process of employee coaching, mentoring, and guiding on employee relation topics.
Employee Relations & Investigations Strategy
Act as a subject matter expert on all things employee relations and investigations. Conduct (or coach others through) prompt, fair, impartial, and thorough investigations into sensitive employee relations issues concerning allegations such as discrimination, harassment, retaliation, hostile work environment, and policy violations. Prepare investigation reports with clear findings and recommendations to include evaluation of any process gaps or practices that create legal risk in order to mitigate organizational liability. Ensure objective, fair and impartial conclusions to bring an amiable outcome for all parties involved. Analyze, refine and implement effective employee relations strategies and policies aligned with organizational goals and values. Ensure a documented, consistent approach to investigations and disciplinary action to include clear SOPs, knowledge management and roles & responsibilities. Stay updated on employment laws and regulations, ensuring compliance and proactively addressing potential risks. Partner cross-functionally across People team to identify and elevate people trends and issues. Explore and develop restorative initiatives that help teams and employees move forward following an investigation.Internal Partnership & Coaching
Consult closely with HR Business Partner & People Relations teams, Sr. Director of People Experience and HR Operations, SVP of People, legal counsel, and business leaders on complex and sensitive situations. Provide mentoring to members of the People team who participate in conducting investigations and handle employee relations concerns to ensure a consistent approach. Coach on appropriate workplace behavior, fostering a culture of respect and inclusivity. Partner on the creation of manager toolkits, training, etc. to reduce the 1-to-1 coaching currently required. Project management of process improvements related to investigations and employee relations best practices.What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry
7+ years’ progressive experience in employee relations/complaint investigations or related experience Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills, with the ability to address sensitive and complex employee relations issues effectively Demonstrated complex investigation skills including assessing situations, gathering statements, drafting summaries, mitigating risk and overall management of action plans related to employee complaints Must have strong critical thinking, growth-mindset, ability to navigate in ambiguity, and grey data, skillset Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information, documents, and records with professionalism and integrity Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and recommend data-driven solutions Ability to navigate and thrive in a complex and dynamic organizational environment Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite – must show demonstrative written communications skills Alignment with McKinstry’s values Proven agile leader and collaborator in highly dynamic environments and high-growth businesses Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service in response to questions from company leaders and People team colleagues Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experiencePeopleFirst Benefits

The pay range for this position is $124,100 - $187,500 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on market location. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
