The Senior Employee Relations Manager is responsible for leading a team of HR Advisors, US and Canada, who are involved with administering programs designed to foster a positive employee relations environment through the consistent and equitable application of Human Resources policies and procedures and federal and state laws and regulations. Identifies employee relations issues and recommends appropriate actions to address and resolve those issues. Responsible for compliance with state, federal and country employment laws.
What You Will Be Doing:
You will be responsible for managing a team of HR Advisors who are working closely with frontline managers and supervisors. Provide guidance and support to ensure consistency of policy application across lines of business networks. Coach HR Advisors, HR Business Partners (HRBPs), managers and employees on routine to complex employee relations issues, assist with policy interpretation, and provide guidance to prevent and/or address conflict resolution. You will be responsible for hiring, managing and developing HR Advisors ensuring there are goals and development plans in place. Provide timely and ongoing feedback on performance. You will coach and advise HR Advisors and managers on complex and non-routine performance management including employee coaching, performance improvement, corrective actions, employment terminations, and ways to minimize the risk of adverse action. You will guide, direct or conduct investigations of claims of harassment, discrimination, workplace violence and other issues, and determine appropriate action and document in final reports. You will partner closely with our internal Legal partners for advice, guidance and responses to complex cases. Work with legal counsel in gathering information and investigate and respond to agency charges. You will partner closely with the Leave team on complex leave of absence requests (including FMLA, ADA, etc.) and managing existing employee leaves by providing consulting support. You will ensure effective coordination with the HR Advisors and our Leave Management team in instances where employee relations issues intersect with a leave of absence or workers’ compensation need. Where appropriate, ensuring that the interactive process on ADA cases is timely and complete. You will research and keep abreast of new laws and regulations, communicate changes to the Employee Relations team.• Identify the need for and assist with all employee relations-related project work. Represent ER on committees and other project teams and provide ER expertise. You will develop training for HR and managers on employee relations-related skills. Assist with development of management training programs, such as Performance Management and , Respectful Workplace and ER onboarding resources. You will develop tools and templates for managers to ensure consistency of documentation. You will work closely with the HR Advisors to apply the tools.
