R&D Unit Lead

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to utilize your extensive skills and technical expertise to select and qualify potential Energy Storage Systems and their manufacturers and ensure Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS) compatibility with those. You will further support new emerging applications around multifunction UPS for ancillary services such as frequency response and peak shaving.The work model for the role is: HybridThis role is contributing to the Electrification Smart Power division. You will be mainly accountable for:•\tLeading the technical qualification of Energy Storage Systems (e.g., battery cells, battery racks, Battery Management Systems, etc.).•\tSupporting supplier qualification.•\tWorking with stakeholders to identify new potential energy storage systems and battery technologies. •\tSupporting certification of batteries and systems for the American and IEC standards.•\tSupporting new emerging applications and technical knowhow on batteries.•\tIdentifying and communicating energy storage requirements.

Qualifications for the role

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 5 years of relevant Engineering experience.Must have an experience with energy storage systems and batteries.Experience working with electrical systems or demonstrate the aptitude to learn complex power electronic systems.Knowledge and experience with Agile methodology is a plus.Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
