CooperVision (CVI) is recruiting a Senior Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Engineer. ESG Engineer will be responsible for the comprehensive analysis of ESG data tied to CVI Operations and plays a critical role in advancing our sustainability and ESG efforts by providing data-driven insights, auditable data, details, evidence, recommendations. Responsibilities entail carbon footprint reduction, waste reduction, and environmental improvement initiatives created through data gathering, understanding of current operations, data analysis, challenging status quo to improve efficiencies for achieving the company ESG goals. This position will interact with various departments and different divisions in operations, including Finance, Engineering, Infrastructure, EHS, Manufacturing, Packaging, Distribution Centers, ESG Corporate Team, among others to ensure ESG considerations are integrated into our business processes. Ensures accuracy, integrity, and data source validation for multiple sites and locations, primarily in Americas, producing high-quality reports necessary for stakeholders, Company Executives and/or ESG reports, among others. This position requires a technically savvy strategic thinker who can translate complex operational data into actionable insights that drive our sustainability agenda. The ESG Engineer will develop frameworks, generate reports that enable ESG performance and facilitates informed operational decisions. Position is based in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico.
Essential Functions & Accountabilities:
Establishing the infrastructure and systems for regional sites to gather and storage accurate ESG data in Corporate digital platforms such as Workiva, Watershed, among others. Data Collection and Management: Gathering and managing ESG-related data from various sources, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Capture additional core data that can be used to support positive sustainable changes withing the organization (e.g. water/energy/ wastewater/recycling, etc.). Data Analysis: Understanding data source and operational systems. Detailed understanding assessments used in ESG reports and Life Cycle Assessments (LCA). Performing detailed analysis of ESG data to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and challenge current systems. Using statistical tools and software to interpret complex datasets. Reporting: Preparing high-quality ESG reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, including senior management. Carbon Reduction: Supporting and reviewing initiatives in reducing carbon such as, reduction of single use plastics or reuse of materials in a production area. Stakeholder Collaboration: Working closely with different departments to integrate ESG data into business strategies and decision-making processes while supporting Sustainability efforts (water and energy management, recycling, etc). Internal and External Compliance and Standards: Ensuring alignment with Corporate VMOST, and compliance with relevant ESG reporting standards and frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD). Continuous Improvement: Identifying and implementing improvements in data collection, analysis, and reporting processes. Training and Support: Providing training sessions and support to team members on ESG data management and reporting best practices. Innovation: Staying updated on the latest trends and technologies in ESG data analysis and reporting and implement innovative solutions to enhance our capabilities. May also support projects and initiatives including benchmarking, policy development, risk management and community engagement.Travel:
This role may require travel up to 25% of the time both domestic (within US), and international.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and presentation abilities, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. High level of accuracy and attention to detail in data handling and reporting. Teamwork and service oriented. Computer literate (MS Office and related software and applications), and proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau), database management (e.g., Watershed, Workiva, SQL, etc.) required. Bilingual (English/Spanish). Applies communication skills (advanced reading, writing, and technical skills) and complex concepts knowledge to perform work and coordinate with others. Needs to have high analytical capacity and level of professionalism and judgement to drive ESG related solutions and change. Available to travel to domestic and international destinations.Experience:
Three (3) years of related technical and/or operational experience in ESG, environmental or sustainability area. Knowledgeable in Utilities, Facilities, Manufacturing and Engineering Operations Proven track record in complex data analysis required. Data management in the ESG, environmental and/or social area highly desirable. Experience and/or exposure with ESG reporting standards and frameworks. Knowledge of sustainability metrics and climate-related data. Ability to facilitate and drive change within the ESG field as well as operate in a global and matrixed environment.Education:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering required. Engineering EIT, PE and CIAPR membership.
