The Senior Engineer, Pipeline Integrity & Cathodic Protection - AC Mitigation ensures design, maintenance, and construction of assets are compliant with codes and regulations, including but not limited to relevant AC mitigation standards. The incumbent will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify potential AC interference risks and develop mitigation plans. This will involve providing expert guidance on material selection and construction designs specific to AC interference threats, and spearheading initiatives to advance the team's AC mitigation strategies. 

The incumbent will ensure proper programs, design guides and work procedures are in place for AC mitigation and ensure proper management of change occurs for any changes to applicable standards. The incumbent will also review, and support new business initiatives as required, considering AC mitigation implications. Finally, the incumbent will support project design and authenticate professional work products for complex/high priority AC mitigation projects.

Responsibilities:

Create and maintain process for annual program and design guide document reviews. Share processes and lessons learned with other teams and employees as required. Spearhead annual regulatory compliance reviews including stakeholder engagement for documents and processes owned by operations, engineering, and construction.  Execute management of change for design, maintenance, and construction changes that occur as a result of regulatory compliance reviews, code changes, and internally identified corrective action requests and continual improvement efforts. Provide Pipeline Integrity & Cathodic Protection with support and engagement for new business initiatives (i.e. nonregulated, affiliate consultation, data management etc.) and includes assisting in project design and authenticating projects as required.

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering.  Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) designation with APEGA is required.  Minimum 3-5 years in AC mitigation design experience.  Knowledge of relevant codes and standards. Knowledge of construction and operations practices. Ability to interpret AC interference study reports to design, commission and maintain AC mitigation systems.  Ability to apply knowledge of engineering principles and corrosion theory to evaluate, design and commission cathodic protection systems.   Thorough knowledge of relevant CSA standards and applicable regulatory bodies as they pertain to pipeline integrity.  NACE CP 2 certification is preferred, with NACE CP 3 awareness or certification an asset.  Experience in project management, construction, and operations of natural gas transmission or distribution systems.  Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.  Strong written and verbal communication skills. Energetic and enthusiastic.  Highest level of integrity and ethics.
