Rockwell Collins Inc. d/b/a Collins Aerospace has an opening for a Senior Engineer, Systems Engineering in Cedar Rapids, IA. Position requires changing hours to one of the following test shifts: 1st shift 6am to 12pm; 2nd shift 12pm to 6pm; 3rd shift 6pm to 12am, during test activities for 4-6 weeks at a time; up to three times per year.

Travel required one to two times per year to Canada (Toronto/Montreal) for one week at a time for design review activities and up to two weeks for testing activities.

What YOU will do

Execute objectives for requirements management, reliability, logistics, coordination of different teams, evaluation measurements, and other disciplines for large or complex projects. Monitor the cost, effectiveness, and reliability of activities and recommend modifications to optimize resources, prioritize spending, and ensure that standards are met.Research and evaluate investments or changes in technology, resources, procedures, equipment, systems, or other assets to improve the quality of the organization’s systems products and services. Provide analysis for the decomposition of customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements, and develop verification criteria and plans for the requirements. Perform analysis at all levels of the total system product including concept, design, fabrication, modeling, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.Consider and evaluate alternatives accounting for similar metrics. Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.Perform architectural exploration. Decompose customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements, and generates verification criteria and plans for the requirements.

Qualifications You Must Have

Must possess at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, or a related field and at least 5 years of progressive experience in a Systems Engineering position in the Avionics industry.  In the alternative, at least a master’s degree or its equivalent in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, or a related field and 3 years of experience in a Systems Engineering position in the Avionics industry would be acceptable.Must possess at least 3 years of experience working with avionics/aircraft systems and multiple sub-systems, avionics protocols and tools (ARINC429, Wireshark, and Flight Data Recorder data), and Aircraft Systems and aircraft operational fundamentals.Must possess at least 3 years of experience with Systems Engineering tools and Processes including Requirements Capture (Doors/Jama), Change management (Clear quest/JIRA), and Test Methodologies.Must possess at least 3 years of experience working within a regulatory environment (FAA/EASA/TC/ANAC) and airworthiness.Must possess at least 3 years of experience with avionics/aircraft problem solving and hands-on troubleshooting.Must possess at least 3 years of experience operating test facilities either through simulations, testing on-host or on target.

includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the

development of our products.

The salary range is $105,539.00 to $163,00.00 USD per year. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
