Senior Engineer

Role description:

To take on a key role within the sector/discipline, winning work, providing leadership, technical advice and leading by example, where appropriate.

To manage selected projects, design teams and/or design processes (or parts of projects) to meet agreed budget, quality and timeframe targets.

To deliver fully documented reports such as feasibility and concept design, detailed design, technical due diligence, client’s requirements (basis of design, employers’ requirements) and more to meet client objectives and Arcadis system requirements.

To develop the technical competency of direct reports and ensure application of international standards and engineering knowledge in various projects.

To contribute towards the achievement of the sector/discipline business plan.

Role accountabilities:

Technical Responsibilities:

• Apply technical engineering techniques and methods using local and international design standards such as UK and US, Structural Design Codes.

• Prepare drawing markups and other design related documents.

• Oversee the project's detailed design and calculation.

• Supervise the design and drawing markup processes.

• Ensure design resources are working effectively and efficiently.

• Conduct internal review and quality checks of engineering drawings and design calculations to ensure compliance with the project's requirements.

• Liaise with other disciplines within the Project Team for coordination and ensure all requirements are understood.

• Prepare and register all relevant documentation and design reports and ensure all documentation is accurate and in compliance with the Arcadis requirements.

• Liaise with the Team Leader, Senior Team Leader, and Associate Director to keep informed of all developments or changes associated with the project.

• Ensure that the Graduate Engineer, Assistant Engineer, and Associate Engineer supporting him/her are fully utilized.

• Identify risks and potential deviations to the project's required scope of work.

• Ensure compliance with scope of works, time schedule and cost control.

• Deliver technically complete design documentation, summary reports and technical reports for Associate Directors.

 

Commercial and People Management:

• To be fully utilized. Always seek new work/tasks from Team Leader, Senior Team Leader, and Associate Director.

• Resource and develop skills and knowledge base of Design, Assistant and Graduate Engineers assigned to projects.

• Self time-management

• Ensure that GE, Assistant Engineer, and Assoc Engr. fully utilizes their training hours.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering

• Licensed Registered Civil Engineer

• 8 to 10 years minimum relevant post-graduate experience.

• Should have at lease 2 to 3 years design experience in water and waste water

• Working towards Chartered Engineer status or equivalent is an advantage but is not required.

• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to provide solutions to technical problems.

• Excellent mathematical skills applied in engineering calculations.

• Ability to lead, with good influencing, motivating and delegating skills.

• Organizational skills and proactive approach in project management.

• Highly proficient in the application of international design standards: Philippines, UK, US.

• Highly proficient in structural engineering design fundamentals

• Knowledgeable in AUTOCAD, REVIT, Navisworks and BIM environment.

• Highly proficient in using the following engineering software: ETABS, SAFE, STAAD, PROKON, TEDDS, LIMCON

• Actively continue to develop personally and technical knowledge and new emerging technology through regular CPD training.
