Introduction to role
As a Senior Cloud DevOps Engineer at AstraZeneca, you will be responsible for crafting, implementing, and maintaining AWS infrastructure while incorporating DevSecOps methodologies and security standard processes. You will work closely with a global team of engineers (software, data, Ops), architects, business analysts, project managers, developers, and data scientists to understand application requirements, design solutions, and make infrastructure decisions. Your focus will be on deploying scalable, secure, and reliable cloud solutions to support AstraZeneca’s mission.
AccountabilitiesDesign, implement, and manage scalable and secure AWS cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles to automate and streamline deployment processes.Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable seamless software delivery, infrastructure automation, and security integration (DevSecOps).Monitor, optimize, and solve AWS resources to improve performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.Implement security standard methodologies in cloud environments to uphold enterprise security standards.Collaborate with global multi-functional teams (software engineers, data scientists, Ops, architects, and business teams) to craft and integrate cloud solutions aligned with business objectives.Ensure best practices in cloud architecture, automation, and DevOps methodologies.Essential Skills/ExperienceBachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience, with strong communication skills.Over 7+ years of IT industry experience, with substantial expertise as a DevOps or Cloud Engineer.In-depth experience with development, configuration, and maintenance of Cloud services using AWS.Strong experience using AWS services (Compute, Storage, Network, RDS, Security, Serverless e.g., AWS Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge).Experience with automated deployment tools and the principles of CI/CD using tools such as (but not limited to) Jenkins, GitHub, GitHub Actions/Runners, CloudFormation, CDK, Terraform, Helm etc.Expertise in containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, AWS Batch).Experience in cloud design, networking concepts, security standard methodologies.Experience with Configuration management tools such as Ansible etc.Experienced user of Git with understanding of branching, Git flows and release management.Scripting experience in Python, Bash or similar and packaging (Virtual environments).Knowledge & experience of Enterprise Identity Management (e.g., SSO, SAML, OpenID Connect).Solid understanding of application architectures including Cloud Native approaches to infrastructure.Experience with testing tools like SonarQube, Cucumber, Pytest etc.Experience in creating and running different types of tests to ensure software and systems work correctly, including unit tests, integration tests, system tests, and acceptance tests.Desirable Skills/ExperienceExperience using AWS CDK with TypeScript to define and manage cloud infrastructure.Understanding of agile methodologies; experience in the pharma domain is a plus.Experience working in matrixed organizations and dynamic, fast-paced environments.Knowledge of programming skills in Java, .Net, etc.When we put unexpected teams in the same room, we unleash bold thinking with the power to inspire life-changing medicines.
