How will you make an impact in this role?

As a Senior Engineer in the American Express Enterprise Cloud team, you will be part of Cloud migration and migration tool development projects whilst playing a key role in the enablement of solutions that power cloud native application patterns across American Express Technologies. You will partner closely with applications teams across the company to understand business critical, customer facing capabilities and provide first class cloud solutions that seek to tackle these challenges in a scalable, reusable manner.

Taking your place as a core member of an agile team driving cloud migrations, application onboarding to public cloud, solutions, and adoption of the latest cloud-native application patterns Delivering solutions that focus on application eligibility criteria, platform consumption efficiencies, and workload placements, while balancing speed and time-to-market Finding opportunities for adopting new technologies Leading other engineers and scrum teams to deliver these solutions and enable businesses worldwide

Minimum Qualifications

8+ years of software development experience in a professional environment Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, computer science engineering, or related experience required; advanced degree preferred Hands-on expertise with application design, software development, and automated testing Development experience in any two programming languages – Java, Javascript, Python, Go Experience with modern datastores like Redis, Couchbase, Cassandra & Postgresql Hands-on experience in cloud native application patterns and tools, micro services architectures, application migrations to any cloud platform Experience in using public cloud platform services, like AWS / Azure / GCP Excellent understanding of Infrastructure, Virtualization, Containers, Network, Storage, monitoring tools, Logging analytic tools (Splunk, etc.) Preferred hands-on experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions Preferred hands-on experience with Cloud technology such as OpenShift/ Kubernetes, Service Mesh, Docker, Envoy and control plane. Deep understanding of Agile principles and processes Proven experience leading teams of engineers Strong problem-solving skills and a desire to learn through experience. Excellent collaboration in a team environment and comfortable in group based working sessions. Working experience as part of an Agile team. Proficient oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Exposure to application discovery and dependency mapping as part of app migration and rationalisation activities and tooling Help drive the next generation hybrid cloud migration strategy and execution Contribute to best-in-class developer experience on the cloud platforms Bringing your expertise to manage applications to AWS Cloud Understand the current application infrastructure and suggest changes to it. Define and document best practices and strategies regarding application migration and maintenance. Collaborate with various stakeholders such as platform, security, network, database, operations and application to understand the risks, mitigation plans, milestones to align with Cloud projects. As a part of core team member of cloud migrations, should contribute in application selection for the next waves of migration Collaborate with the technology vendors, cloud partners to help build/implement versatile innovative solutions to secure workloads in public cloud environments Lead design and development ownership on migration tool to migrate applications from private to public cloud Lead and mentor teams of engineers through ongoing development efforts Collaborate and liaise with stakeholders across different locations whose inputs are needed for the migration tool development Identifying exciting opportunities for adopting new technologies to support both existing needs and predicting future challenges  Work closely with product managers, platform, and application engineers to implement versatile solutions to exciting, large-scale problems Demonstrate increased self-reliance to achieve team goals Influence team members with creative changes and improvements by challenging status quo and demonstrating risk taking Be a productivity multiplier for your team by analyzing your work flow and contributing to enable the team to be more effective, productive, and demonstrating faster and stronger results. Mentor and guide junior team members to success within the team Lead a culture of innovation and experimentation, engage in fun and outcome-oriented culture, and always be ready to try new concepts without fear of failure.

Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
