The Transportation Division/Traffic Engineering and ITS Business Class of HDR is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Engineer Traffic/Operations Analysis in our traffic engineering group for immediate employment in our Los Angeles region offices. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in Traffic Engineering planning and analysis specific to public works and traffic improvement projects as well as experience in emerging technology related traffic engineering issues. HDR is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects and task leadership positions. The successful candidate can look forward to projects including assignments such as the LAX Program Management, LA Metro projects, OCTA projects, and local municipal traffic analysis efforts. This candidate will be involved in the development and support of many other challenging multi-modal projects for agencies like LA Metro, City of LA, City of Long Beach, OCTA, SBCTA, TLMA and RCTC as well as other clients. The primary duties of this senior position include providing planning to produce traffic operations analysis and oversight of large area traffic analysis as well as emerging technology system planning. You must be comfortable being viewed as a technical expert with recognized authority in an area of specialization that resolves problems of greater scope and complexity while planning and developing projects or design activities that have significant impact on major company programs. May serve as deputy or project manager on larger traffic projects, however, project management is not the sole focus of position.
In the role of Sr. Engineer Traffic/Operations Analysis, we'll count on you to:
Devise project specific methodologies to perform travel demand forecasts and volume post‐processing on freeway and arterial facilities with various city and county municipalities. Worked extensively with the LA Metro, SCAG, OCTAM, RIVTAM, and SANDAG regional traffic demand models for the purpose of providing future traffic forecasts. Develop and implement Excel worksheets and Visual Basic macros to automate and streamline the HCM methodologies for freeway operations, ramp metering and lane closure queuing analysis.Created multiple large scale simulations for freeway corridors and arterial interchanges utilizing VISSIM, VISTRO and SYNCHRO/SimTraffic to identify the preferred design for project alternatives and construction staging.Analyze and devise congestion relief plans and project mitigations for arterial highways and intersections which incorporated geometric, striping and signal timing improvements.Work on a broad spectrum of transportation projects and the associated technical reports including Local Roadways Safety Plans, Traffic Impact Reports, EIR/EIS technical studies, Modified Access Reports, Transportation Management Plans and PSR‐PDS.Position includes exposure in transit management and performance, transit capacity and level of service, emerging and innovative public transport and technologies.#LI-JC8
Preferred QualificationsMSCE with Transportation emphasis preferred.
California P.E. LicenseRequired QualificationsBachelor's degreeA minimum of 10 years' experience in ITS and traffic engineering for urban and rural highways, major and minor interchanges and intersections Professional Engineer (PE) license Knowledge of regulations of state and federal transportation agencies Proficiency with Microsoft Office Experience using HCS, CORSIM, Synchro/SIM Traffic and other software packages Strong oral and written communication skills, presentation skills and ability to work in a team environment An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
