Senior Engineer – XR Developer – Immersive Technologies (XR)
The ECS Immersive Technologies - XR Senior Engineer role is responsible for building and maintaining AR/VR experiences and XR Scaled Innovation related solutions & applications using the XR Eco System of platform. The XR Lead Consultant is accountable for the production of 3D/VR/AR/MR experiences viewable on mobile devices and VR headsets and demonstrates development of Metaverse applications. This role also requires intrinsic design abilities, digital expertise, and acute attention to detail for Metaverse (AR/VR/MR) solutions. The ability to communicate and manage multiple projects, engage with key stakeholders, and collaborate with other artists is crucial. You will work with other team members & departments to establish an effective pipeline and integrate media assets, design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code. Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications. Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to address and mitigate these problems. Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatization. Unity multi-platform deployment/debugging/testing, native plugins. Collaboration with other Platforms teams within AstraZeneca to share experience in this domain is crucial. The XR Lead Consultant works closely with Engineering Teams and ensures that AZ technical solutions are delivered to AZ defined reference standards technology standards.
AccountabilitiesEvaluate project needs and come up with solutions.
Implement UI, rapid prototyping, integrating assets and development.
Optimize and polish XR applications.
Keep up with the latest trends and advancements in game, augmented, and virtual reality.
Lead XR development projects using Unity and AR/VR technologies.
Craft and develop immersive AR/VR/MR experiences for mobile devices and HMDs.
Collaborate with customers to integrate multimedia assets into XR experiences.
Build and deploy robust, reusable XR code solutions.
Solve and fix bugs to ensure a seamless user experience.
Maintain high code quality standards and automate workflows.
Share XR expertise with AstraZeneca teams.
Deliver innovative XR solutions that meet industry’s technical standards in terms of quality and performance.
Essential Skills/ExperienceExpertise in Unity, C#, URP, and AR/VR development.
Experience with iOS development using Unity 3D.
Familiarity with various AR/VR devices.
Very solid understanding of XR development pipeline (UX, 3D, Development).
Proficiency in multiplayer backend systems and networking.
Strong understanding of computer graphics and optimization for AR/VR.
Grasp of UX design for XR interfaces.
Agile mindset and willingness to learn new XR technologies.
Expertise in Unity scripting, CAD model visualization, and scene composition.
Experience with different Metaverse/XR platforms and SDKs.
Superb communication and teamwork skills.
Availability for global travel.
Leadership skills and understanding of the pharmaceutical industry.
Must be well-versed with web APIs for backend applications integrations.
Demonstrated initiative, strong customer orientation, and cross-cultural working.
Provide and receive accurate information in research projects & other communications.
Ability to travel to AstraZeneca’s global Operations sites.
Ability to work well in diverse, multinational teams and demonstrable ability to influence others to achieve positive outcomes.
Desirable Skills/ExperienceTechnical degree or equivalent experience or equivalent qualification with 10+ years of unity or similar experience.
Proficiency in game engines like Unity, Unreal, and exposure to Web-XR.
Proficiency in ARKit, ARCore, XR SDK, Photon, and PiXYZ.
Experience with scripting languages like C#, JavaScript, and Python.
Object-oriented design, design patterns, and 3D Math knowledge.
Strong web API skills for backend integration.
Ability to deliver accurate information, quick decision making, and influence positive outcomes.
