We are seeking a visionary and entrepreneurial Senior Engineering Manager to spearhead the development of the Databricks Marketplace. In this role, you will craft strategic plans, oversee engineering execution, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver impactful features that will drive the next phase of exponential growth for Databricks Marketplace.
About the Team
The Databricks Marketplace is an open marketplace for data, analytics, and AI, powered by the open-source Delta Sharing standard. It creates opportunities for providers to monetize their assets while enabling consumers to access a diverse array of resources that drive innovation and insights. This initiative is a vital part of Databricks’ mission to enable data teams to solve the world's toughest problems.
Our team focuses on enhancing the sharing and collaboration experiences for data and AI providers and consumers, including support for a wider range of asset types, funnel optimization, and seamless trials and consumption. We work closely with business teams, partnerships, and external collaborators to ensure end-to-end value delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Innovation: Guide the Databricks Marketplace engineering team in building an innovative and high-impact Data and AI Marketplace. Strategic Vision: Define and shape the future direction of Databricks Marketplace, aligning with company strategy and evolving customer needs. Team Development: Build and nurture a world-class team of software engineers through strategic hiring, mentoring, and leadership development. Technical Oversight: Make critical technical decisions, including long-term architectural strategies, while balancing the product roadmap. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ensure consistent delivery against milestones while maintaining strong alignment with cross-functional teams. Organizational Evolution: Adapt and evolve the organizational structure to support long-term initiatives and growth.Qualifications
At least 7 years of Engineering experience and 5+ years of experience as an engineering leader in the data or application marketplaces, collaboration, data management, or related technical fields. Proven track record of working cross-functionally with product teams, business stakeholders, and external partners. Strong product sense and ability to understand and anticipate end-user needs. Good knowledge of Scala, Java, Python, or similar languages. Deep enthusiasm and comprehensive understanding of the Data and AI landscape. Proven ability to develop high-quality, performant features with a strong sense of product excellence. Experience in attracting, hiring, and mentoring exceptional engineers; demonstrated success in developing leaders and integrating top-tier senior talent. Ability to build trust with the team and guide their professional development, including experience working with distributed teams. Comfortable collaborating with product management, business stakeholders, and directly with customers and external partners to understand product nuances and customer needs. Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science or a related field.
Pay Range Transparency
Databricks is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range(s) for this role is listed below and represents base salary range for non-commissionable roles or on-target earnings for commissionable roles. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, relevant certifications and training, and specific work location. Based on the factors above, Databricks utilizes the full width of the range. The total compensation package for this position may also include eligibility for annual performance bonus, equity, and the benefits listed above.
