Senior Engineering Manager, Feedback, gUP Engineering
Minimum qualifications: + Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. + 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript). + 7 years of experience leading engineering teams. Preferred qualifications: + Master's degree or advanced degree in Computer Science. + Ability to navigate organizational challenges to drive delivery of cross functional projects. Software Engineering Managers have not only the technical expertise to take on and provide technical leadership to major projects, but also manage a team of Engineers. You not only optimize your own code but make sure Engineers are able to optimize theirs. As a Software Engineering Manager you manage your project goals, contribute to product strategy and help develop your team. Teams work all across the company, in areas such as information retrieval, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, security, data compression, user interface design; the list goes on and is growing every day. Operating with scale and speed, our exceptional software engineers are just getting started -- and as a manager, you guide the way. With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally. In gTech Users and Products (gUP), our mission is to advocate for Google’s users by creating helpful and trusted experiences across the product ecosystem. We achieve this by meeting partners and consumers where they are with support and help, representing their needs with our product partners and proposing fixes and features that elevate their engagement with Google's diverse product ecosystem. Additionally we provide a range of product services that ensure our products are optimized for every user, no matter where they are in the world (e.g., localization, digitization, partner integration and more). + Build teams and capabilities, be comfortable with ambiguity and manage issues. + Extend and maintain scalable user feedback collection, classification and analysis products for all Google products. + Partner with product teams to enhance how we surface Feedback insights to our stakeholders within Product Verticals (PVs) and Product Areas (PAs). + Set clear expectations with individuals based on their level and role and aligned to the broader organization's goals. Meet regularly with individuals to discuss performance and development and provide feedback and coaching. + Collaborate across gTech Users and Products (gUP) and Google.
