GEICO is seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Manager with a passion for Testing Framework and Tools. You will build and manage a team of engineers with a deep focus on building and maintaining testing frameworks, libraries and tools, test run times, reporting and analytics, and making testing accessible and intuitive for engineers across Geico. You and your team will be responsible for understanding business and engineering needs alike and continue to evolve our Testing capabilities portfolio so that we continue to reduce the cost of test development and increase the efficiency and effectiveness of tests.
The ideal candidate has deep technical expertise in the internals of test frameworks such as Pytest, Playwright, TestNG, and knows how to build and extend test frameworks capabilities and knows the challenges and effective strategies for rolling out common test frameworks across hundreds of engineers.
Position Responsibilities
Mentor, coach, hire, and grow an existing team of Test Framework engineers. Must love taking care of people and helping them realize their potential
Design and implement an ever-evolving portfolio of test framework capabilities with a product like focus on developer/test needs and usage patterns.
Develop tooling and frameworks and operational patterns for both functional/integration testing and load/performance testing using open-source tools and frameworks.
Have strong opinions and have strategic engagements to implement, rollout, sunset, and support test frameworks and tools across 1000+ developers
Collaborate with development, CICD, Infrastructure, SRE, network engineering teams, to build the roadmap and implementation plans for developing innovating in test frameworks and capabilities
Design with observability and reliability core principles so that a small team can have an outsized impact.
Qualifications
Be an active listener and effective communicator
8+ years of experience in software testing, performance/load testing.
Deep familiarity with test framework internals or advanced topics in Pytest, Playwright, TestNG.
Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Go, Node, Java, Python.
Strong proficiency in Linux system administration and shell scripting.
Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
(highly desirable) Proficient with GitHub and managing Git-based workflows.
(highly desirable) Experience developing large scale performance test rigs for K6.
Education
Bachelor's degree or master's degree in information technology or related field, or equivalent experience
Annual Salary
$150,000.00 - $300,000.00The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
