About us

Reporting into the Global Head of Technology, the Senior Engineering Manager will lead a diverse department of specialist mechanical engineers based in Philippines.

The Senior Engineering Manager is a people leader who develops the teams’ (Product Performance, Acoustics, Technology Systems - Fluid Dynamics & Thermodynamics, Simulation) capabilities in line with the long-term business needs: recruiting, coaching and developing our people & building the supporting infrastructure in our processes and our toolsets. They create and explain the department’s long-term vision, including annual goals and objectives. As the figurehead of an engineering department, they take accountability for the quality and timeliness of their team’s work.  

About the role

Work with the Head of Department to support setting the vision and direction for the Haircare team, including annual goals and objectives.

Define and grow a world class Haircare engineering team in our new and exciting Philippines campus.

Play a key role in the RDD SEA leadership community whilst encouraging collaboration between functions and leading teams with a ‘Dyson’ mindset – being different, authentic and pioneering.

Accountable for the SEA team’s delivery of Haircare work packages to milestone timelines and high levels of quality & technical rigour. 

Attract, recruit and retain talent with the haircare team. Manage performance and develop our people

Provide world-class tools & develop effective processes.  Set expectations for good practice.

Manage and prioritise engineering resources to deliver maximum value.  

Create a lean and effective organisation.  Manage department spend to budget & eliminate waste.

About you

Ability to inspire others in order to deliver the vision & strategy for the department.

Proven people management skills to ensure the successful delivery of performance through others. 

Mechanical engineering expertise, with breadth that ideally covers fluids & thermodynamics, acoustics & vibration and structural analysis specialisms.

Appreciation of CAE analysis and simulation techniques.

Deep knowledge of Dyson’s product development framework.

Credibility at Director level with the ability to build broad networks internally and externally. A role model collaborator.

Proven ability to coach, mentor and develop people.

Can manage performance and resolve conflicts.
