Job Summary:
Directly manage the day-to-day activities of the Propulsion Engineering group. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and monitoring all operations within the group, hiring and training new team members, implementing engineering practices, and planning and coordinating engineering projects. You will also identify and implement innovative technologies intended to improve the team’s performance. Additionally, you will oversee the development of engineering products and processes and establish strategies that aim to improve overall business success.
This position requires technical expertise in solid propellant rocket motor propulsion systems, proven product development experience with military systems, experience with building customer relations, and ability to successfully work with other functional groups in a team environment to achieve business objectives. Success in this role will require sound technical judgment, innovative thinking and excellent leader skills.
Essential Job Functions:
• Establish and implement engineering practices, processes, and goals for the organization
• Develop and coordinate engineering projects and strategies
• Lead engineering projects by setting objectives, requirements, and timeframes
• Evaluate the performance of engineering team members
• Communicate important matters to senior leadership team members
• Coordinate and monitor engineering projects to ensure they are completed on time and within budgets
• Oversee the development of engineering products and processes
• Provide technical guidance and assistance to engineering team members
• Develop technical roadmaps to identify key technologies essential to innovation and development of new products
• Mentor engineering staff to maintain a high performing team
• Setting and promoting high standards for safety and quality
• Taking a leadership role in solving significant technical issues
• Support program technical reviews and proposal reviews
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical and/or Aerospace Engineering and fifteen (15) Years of relevant experience in solid propellant rocket motor development
• Ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance (US Citizen)
• Strong technical background in propulsion system design, development, manufacturing, integration, and test
• Outstanding leadership and motivation skills
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Strategic mindset
• Five years of Engineering leadership experience
• Ability to travel to support internal and external stakeholders (approximately 20%)
• Experience with new business pursuit and capture
