Senior Engineering Manager - Ecosystem

The role of a Senior Engineering Manager at Sinch is to drive the success of multiple engineering teams while remaining hands-on and deeply technical. You will manage a team of Engineering Managers and senior engineers while also directly leading one of the core teams. Your mission is to build and scale high-performing teams that develop and operate robust, highly scalable, and distributed cloud-based solutions serving over 50,000 customers and processing 2 billion messages annually.

This role requires a blend of strategic leadership and technical depth. You will shape engineering direction, drive execution excellence, and ensure that teams continuously deliver customer value.

Tech stack: Python, Java, React. Other teams also use GO and Typescript. 

 

Key responsibilities:

Provide technical and strategic leadership across multiple teams while remaining hands-on in technical discussions. Directly manage an engineering team while also coaching and developing Engineering Managers under your leadership. Establish and drive best practices for development, operations, and technical excellence. Ensure teams maintain a healthy balance between delivering new features and addressing technical debt. Support teams in owning, operating, and scaling their services, fostering a culture of operational excellence. Serve as a key stakeholder in defining engineering strategy and roadmaps in collaboration with product managers and senior leadership. Drive continuous improvement through retrospectives and data-driven decision-making. Partner with Engineering Managers, Product Managers, and stakeholders to align team priorities with company objectives. Hire, coach, and mentor engineers and managers, creating a strong engineering culture focused on growth and learning. Support career development through coaching, mentoring, and personal development plans. Be an advocate for engineering excellence, ensuring software is built with performance, scalability, and maintainability in mind.

 

The successful candidate will have solid software engineering experience with recent technical leadership/management responsibilities. Deep technical knowledge of at least one of the following languages, Python, Java, React. Proven experience with AWS or similar cloud platform providers and utilising infrastructure as code. Experience leading large scale distributed systems, ideally in a SaaS or high scale environment. You have proven ability to drive technical strategy and execution while balancing business and technical needs. Strong coaching and mentoring skills, developing both individual contributors and engineering managers. With the ability to collaborate and influence stakeholders across engineering, product, and executive leadership.
