Job PurposeAlpha Technologies Ltd., an EnerSys company, is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager – Power Systems to lead our Power Systems Engineering team in our ES (Energy Systems) facilities. In a key leadership role, reporting to the Director Power Solutions Product Development, the Senior Engineering Manager – Power Systems leads, manages, and contributes as an active member of the Power Systems Engineering team capable of carrying out needed engineering initiatives, with emphasis on team development, engineering processes, product design, and sustaining engineering.
⦁ Actively participate and effectively contribute to the definition, brainstorming, development, and execution of the ESG Power Systems Engineering product roadmaps.
⦁ Monitor and schedule the Power Systems team workload to assign the appropriate resources to planned development programs, and support sustaining engineering activities.
⦁ Provide mentoring and leadership to ensure the Power Systems team competently provides appropriate design solutions, complete/correct documentation, and manufacturing and testing support to enable the shipment of products against customer orders.
⦁ Resolve technical, procedural, and/or personnel issues; takes ownership of problems and responsibility for solutions.
⦁ Build and maintain rapport with company-wide stakeholders involved with selling, specifying, designing, building, testing, inspecting, shipping, and supporting Power System products to encourage and support a “same-team” mentality.
⦁ Develop and maintain Standard Operating Practices, including flow charts, templates, reports, record keeping, and work instructions for all Power Systems engineering processes.
⦁ Analyze statistics or other data and recommend immediate action to maintain the level of operational excellence and financial performance according to departmental KPI measurements.
⦁ Directly manage those personnel assigned including staffing levels and personnel placement, employee relations, performance appraisals, discipline and termination, salary administration, training, and career development.
⦁ Actively engage in the design, documentation, and testing of Power Systems as needed due to peak workloads or technically difficult projects.
⦁ Critical to all duties and responsibilities is the ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and leadership thinking by acquiring a thorough knowledge of the Power Systems products that Energy Systems Americas (ESA) offers; demonstrate analytical thinking skills, sound judgment, and bring your own ideas to the table along with a "hands-on" can-do attitude.
⦁ Active participation and leadership in appropriate Continuous Improvement activities.
⦁ Minimum 7 years related experience with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory or project management role; demonstrated experience in coaching, mentoring, and/or teaching
⦁ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and hands-on work experience as a Power Systems Designer or similar role
⦁ Must have experience with simulation and modeling techniques and tooling (including and not limited to MBD – Model Based Design, Parametric Design, HIL – Hardware in the Loop, MIL – Model in the loop, SIL – System in the Loop).
⦁ Detailed knowledge of AC and DC Power Systems design and applicable codes and standards – telecom product experience is a plus
⦁ Must have proven experience with successful developments using V&V (Verification and Validation) processes, with good command of the toolchain and the SW packages used to manage and document the process.
⦁ Intermediate capabilities in Syteline (or another ERP), PLM, SolidWorks, AutoCAD or Altium, and MS-Office applications
⦁ Detailed understanding of engineering documentation including schematics, drawings, and BOMs
⦁ Excellent organizational skills with good attention to detail
⦁ Exceptional English communication skill both verbal and written
⦁ Creative problem solving/troubleshooting skills
⦁ Excellent customer relationship skills
⦁ Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:
⦁ Experience in telecommunications and/or outdoor enclosure design and manufacturing industries
⦁ Experience in AC and DC Power Systems for telecommunications or wireless applications, and in UL/CSA and Bellcore Standards (CSA, NEMA, NEBS, GR-487)
⦁ Understanding of thermodynamics, electronics closures and packaging, sheet-metal processes, machining, plastic molding, and HVAC systems
⦁ Experience in Product Development stage-gate processes
⦁ Experience leading global teams
⦁ Experience or domain knowledge of advanced processes or practices (i.e., Reliability Engineering, Systems Engineering, Accelerated Life Testing, etc.) is a big plus
