**About the Role** Uber is seeking a dynamic Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Business systems team in Uber for Business (U4B). Business systems is a critical component of U4B, powering various products and facilitating millions of transactions across hundreds of thousands of organizations. As an Engineering Manager on the U4B platform team, you will play a key role in leading and empowering a talented team of engineers to build, maintain, and scale this dynamic platform, with a strong focus on growth and trust & security. If you are passionate about solving large-scale engineering challenges and making a global impact, we’d love to hear from you. \-\-\- What the Candidate Will Do ---- You would have a range of responsibilities that revolve around leading and managing multiple teams of engineers (including other EM/TLMs) to drive technical excellence and deliver high-quality products and services. Here are some of the key things you would do: 1. You would provide leadership and guidance to engineers/TLs/EMs, fostering a collaborative and inclusive team culture. This involves setting clear expectations, defining goals, and supporting the professional growth and development of your team members. 2. You would play a crucial role in shaping the technical direction and strategy of your domain and aligning it with broader company goals. 3. You would oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects. 4. Effective collaboration with stakeholders across different functions, such as product managers, applied/data scientists, operations teams, designers, and other XFN engineering teams is essential. You would communicate effectively to align priorities, manage dependencies, and ensure a smooth flow of information between teams. 5. You would be responsible for hiring, onboarding, and developing top engineering talent. This includes conducting performance evaluations, providing feedback and mentorship, and supporting the career growth of your team members. 6. You would promote and uphold engineering best practices, ensuring high standards of code quality, scalability, and reliability. 7. You would collaborate with stakeholders at various levels of the organization, including senior and executive leadership, to understand business needs, provide technical insights, and contribute to strategic decision-making. 8. You would coach and grow Sr./Staff engineers, as well as other EMs/TLs. \-\-\-\- Basic Qualifications ---- 1. Minimum 10 years of proven experience in software engineering 2. 3+ years experience of management in building and leading a software engineering team. People management experience, including growing and mentoring engineers at different levels 3. Strong understanding of technical architecture, system design, and problem solving acuity for sophisticated technical challenges \-\-\-\- Preferred Qualifications ---- 1. Bachelor’s or Master's degree or equivalent degree 2. PhD degree in computer science or other relevant fields is a plus 3. You have previously led teams that owned and/or built new product 4. You have managed Staff+ engineers and EMs; and led multiple teams for at least 1+ year 5.
