Senior Engineering Specialist

We are looking for a Senior Engineering Specialist to join our world-class manufacturing and design facility in Ottawa, Ontario!

As our Senior Engineering Specialist, you will apply systematic debug and troubleshooting techniques to diagnose manufacturing and design-related problems that have been identified at a Curtiss-Wright customer or yield fallouts from the manufacturing processes.

Your Challenge:

Responsible for debug of a wide variety of Ethernet Switches, Routers and Mission Computers, Single Board Computers, Complex graphics circuit cards and form factors VPX, VME, XMC, PMC, cPCI.

Perform card level and system level testing and debugging to detect root cause.

Diagnose complex electronic circuits by setting up and performing functionality tests and specialized tests in order to isolate product failure down to the component level.

Utilize test equipment such as oscilloscope, DMM, etc. for testing and debugging to component level.

Knowledge in Linux, Windows OS and can provide complex debug at a component level.

Ability to work with instructions for setting up and maintaining test infrastructure.

Identify non-conforming products and components. Confirm all equipment are calibrated.

Document symptoms as required to allow engineering staff to further analyze problems where necessary.

Perform systematic techniques to meet customer expectations and internal targets (OTD, TAT, etc.).

Feedback technical issues to Quality, Manufacturing Engineering or Test Engineering Support.

Develop and maintain debugging guides. Suggest process improvements.

Complete all logs, reports and data gathering in accordance with established procedures.

Work with engineering on technical investigations by executing tests and providing acquired results.

Attend all provided test and debug trainings. Comply with all workmanship standards.

Maintain a safe and orderly work environment and complete company-wide trainings as required.

What You Bring:

Electronic Technician, Technologist diploma or other relevant area with a minimum of five years of experience in test and debug.

A background in electronics manufacturing is required.

Knowledgeable in the interpretation and application of the IPC-A-610 Class 3 standard. J-STD-001 or IPC-7711/7721 would be an asset.

Interpreting product schematics, diagrams, layouts or defined plans to aid in debugging products.

Experience with SAP, Agile PLM, or another MRP is an asset.

Familiarity with VME, VPX, PCI architecture and Cisco software would be an asset.

Strong structured debugging skills in both digital and analog circuits with respect to fault diagnosis.

Familiarity with NI TestStand and Goepel (JTAG) and ESS testing/debug would be an asset.

Knowledge of graphics protocols and technologies such as LVDS and TMDS in both analog and digital formats.

Good working knowledge of Intel x86-based and PowerPC based products.

Strong technical communication and computer skills. Working knowledge of test procedures and documents.

Basic mechanical skills for setting up/tearing down test setups and product disassembly. 

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
