Where You Will Work   

Located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona on U.S. Highway 191, Morenci operations (an open-pit copper mining complex) has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation consists of two concentrators, crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system, a low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system; four SX plants; and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode.

Description

Under general supervision, facilitates a variety of complex engineering projects including data collection and monitoring, maintenance, surveillance activities, and others as needed to support operations at an assigned site.

Manage the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of field instrumentation and monitoring equipment.Manage data and assist with problem-solving requiring basic theories and engineering fundamentals.Utilize computer programs to solve engineering problems and maintain proper documentation.Oversee acquisition of automated and manual field instrumentation and survey data.Perform technical evaluation of equipment, troubleshoot and perform maintenance of installed instrumentationMaintain accurate and current project documentation.Manage survey and mapping projects (with GPS, total station, drone).Provide training and guidance to technicians and engineers on the operation and maintenance of instrumentation and equipment.May work with vendors and contractors in the support of data collection and interpretation of dataProvide backup support for Engineers in analysis and processes as requiredPerform other duties as requested.Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Five (5) years of experience in an engineering or technical area relevant to the assignment.Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writingAbility to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautionsAbility to develop good working relationships within own team and folks from various other departments.Skilled in safely using, maintaining, and repairing specialized equipment

 

Preferred Qualifications:

High School diploma or GEDOne year experience in the mining industryAptitude for computers and/or electronicsExperience with vibrating wire piezometersKnowledge of specialized equipment, methods, and techniques appropriate to assignment, including CAD, GIS/GPS mapping techniquesAbility to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $26.00 - $36.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors.
