Senior Engineering Technician

What We Need:
The Engineering Technician - Extrusion will have responsibility for the safety, environmental compliance, and operational aspects of Plastic Melt Extrusion processes located in Florist/Camden Avenue. This individual will support activities contained in the entire product development cycle from product and process development up to and including production level manufacturing. The Engineering Technician will succeed in this position by working with R&D Engineering, Management, Florist site Operations, and EH&S to develop compliance and safety procedures and ensure that these are communicated to and are followed by all users and visitors. He/she will also ensure the availability and smooth operation of the production floor by developing and following operating, training, and preventive maintenance procedures, scheduling protocols, and managing the inventory of commonly used raw materials.
What You'll Be Doing:
+ Troubleshoot and solve problems requiring interpretation of procedures and practices. Analyze situations or data to identify issues and trends.
+ Collect, compile, measure, organize, and record data. Provide input to engineering, qualifications and validation studies, and develop or revise documents and procedures. May keep lab notebooks.
+ Develop safety and environmental compliance procedures in collaboration with site EH&S; ensure that these are followed by all users and visitors
+ Conduct safety, housekeeping & standard work audits
+ Develop operating procedures for all equipment in department
+ Conduct &/or coordinate training such as machine operation and safety
+ Develop and manage a preventive maintenance program in collaboration with department engineers.
+ Partner with Operations, Quality, R&D & Maintenance departments to address issues, changes & upkeep, and equipment availability
+ Maintain inventory of commonly used raw materials
+ Maintain and manage equipment schedules
+ Perform equipment set up, clean up & operation as needed in support of developmental trials and production manufacturing.
+ Dedicates time to administrative tasks such as updating Temporary Operating Procedures, identifying and correcting errors in Product Specifications, etc. under direction from department or site management as appropriate.
+ Adhere to Brady’s Safety, Attendance & other Company policies
What You Will Need To Be Successful:
+ Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience
+ Technical/analytical skillset to allow effective formal problem solving activities.
+ Exceptional verbal & written communication skills. Ability to read & follow written directions. Basic math skills.
+ Basic computer skills with medium proficiency in office applications, i.e. M.S. Word & Excel
+ Ability to work well in a team environment
+ Self directed & leads by example
+ Accurate & timely data entry in ERP (enterprise resource management) system
+ Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly & stand for 80% of shift
+ Ability to bend, twist & reach to perform job duties
+ Detail oriented, strong work ethic & a positive can do attitude
