Senior Engineering Technician
Job Title: SR Engineering Technician

Job Description

The Sr Engineering Technician will provide technical leadership within the engineering team, offering guidance and support to junior technicians. This role involves collaborating closely with engineers and project managers to execute product development plans and achieve project objectives. The technician will coordinate and delegate tasks for prototype instrument builds and updates.

ResponsibilitiesServe as a lead technician within the engineering team, providing leadership and technical guidance to junior technicians.Collaborate closely with engineers and project managers to execute product development plans and achieve project objectives.Utilize strong technical skills to build and test prototypes of medical devices, ensuring adherence to design specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards.Analyze and interpret test results, providing recommendations for improvements and modifications as needed.Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation throughout the development process, including test reports, engineering change orders, and equipment calibration records.Prepare clear and concise technical reports to communicate findings, observations, and recommendations to stakeholders.Oversee the maintenance, calibration, and organization of laboratory equipment, tools, and supplies required for product development activities.Ensure equipment is in optimal working condition, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate repairs or replacements when necessary.Collaborate with engineers and manufacturing personnel to identify areas for process improvement and optimization.Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and suggest enhancements to workflows, procedures, and manufacturing techniques to increase efficiency and productivity.Ensure adherence to compliance regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices throughout the development process.Collaborate with regulatory affairs and quality assurance teams to support compliance efforts and prepare documentation for regulatory submission.Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, R&D, quality, regulatory, and manufacturing to facilitate seamless communication and knowledge transfer.Participate in design reviews, team meetings, and project discussions to contribute valuable insight and recommendations.Provide training and mentoring to junior engineering technicians, fostering their technical skills and professional development.Essential SkillsExperience as an engineering technician in the medical device industry, with a focus on product development.Strong knowledge of the medical device development process, including prototyping, testing, and manufacturing.Proficiency in using engineering tools and software such as CAD/CAM, SolidWorks, and data analysis software.Familiarity with quality management systems and regulatory requirements such as FDA and ISO standards.Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently.Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey technical information and collaborate across teams.Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation.Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.Leadership qualities with the ability to mentor and guide junior technicians.GCSE in Math and English and a relevant engineering qualification.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with 3D printers and CNC machines.Familiarity with BOM management and engineering change control processes.Work Environment

The role is based in an R&D environment, working in a lab setting. The position involves collaborating with various teams including engineering, R&D, quality, regulatory, and manufacturing. The work environment is fast-paced and collaborative, requiring effective management of multiple priorities.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $43.00/hr.
