About the role  

 

As a Senior Engineering Technician within Babcock’s High Frequency Network team, you will play a key role in supporting the test, design, and integration of the Enhanced Defence High Frequency Communications System.

 

You’ll be responsible for delivering practical and technical solutions across hardware design, testing, and integration—ensuring that system capabilities meet operational needs and performance expectations.

You’ll conduct technical investigations, troubleshoot system issues, and contribute to the production of high-quality documentation such as interface control documents and test procedures.

 

Working to project plans and engineering standards, you’ll liaise closely with design and verification teams to share test outcomes and ensure system integrity through all stages of development and sustainment.

 

About you   
 

You will bring a strong foundation in engineering discipline and hands-on technical experience, particularly in hardware product design and test planning. Your ability to investigate and analyse technical problems enables you to deliver effective solutions, even in complex environments.

 

You’re also confident producing and managing detailed technical documentation, always ensuring accuracy and compliance with data management and information security requirements. 

 

Most importantly, you’re motivated by contributing to projects of national significance, where your work has real-world impact on defence capability.

 

To be successful in this position you will bring:

Significant experience in relatable technical/engineering roles An understanding of engineering toolsets (e.g. PLM or MRP systems, design, simulation, and analysis software) A thorough understanding of the design, analysis, test, and support techniques associated with electronic equipment An awareness of techniques and technologies that may interface with electronic equipment Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work in a team
