Role Description

Arcadis is seeking a Senior Environmental Project Manager to join our Resilience team in Alberta. This position offers flexible hybrid work arrangements, with occasional travel for site visits and project-related meetings. As part of the Environmental Restoration (ER) division, you will collaborate with a dedicated team committed to fostering professional growth and career development.

In this role, you will oversee and deliver environmental projects of varying sizes and complexities within Alberta. Your responsibilities will center on project reporting, budgeting, and execution, with a particular focus on contaminated site investigations, feasibility studies, remediation design, hydrogeological assessments, and environmental monitoring programs.

Role Accountabilities

As a Senior Environmental Project Manager, you will take ownership of defining and managing project scopes, schedules, and budgets, ensuring successful delivery while identifying and mitigating risks. You will maintain a strong commitment to regulatory compliance and technical accuracy in all project phases. A key aspect of your role will involve preparing and reviewing reports, work plans, specifications, and proposals to meet high-quality standards.

You will also manage technical budgets, clearly define project objectives, and ensure scope, schedules, and costs are achieved. Providing technical guidance and conducting senior-level reviews will be integral to your responsibilities, particularly for contaminated site investigations, remediation design, feasibility studies, and environmental monitoring programs.

As a leader, you will mentor and guide team members, fostering a growth-oriented, collaborative work environment. Your oversight of intermediate and junior staff will ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and technical excellence. Additionally, you will operate within corporate policies, maintaining quality control, health and safety standards, and performance management systems.

The projects you lead will span sectors such as oil and gas, mining, power, infrastructure, brownfields, and government properties. Leveraging your expertise in environmental compliance and your familiarity with provincial and federal guidelines, including CCME standards, you will navigate regulatory complexities with confidence. Your ability to design and execute field programs, analyze data, and prepare detailed reports will allow you to effectively communicate findings to clients and stakeholders.

Strong communication and collaboration skills are critical, as the role will require contributions to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Expressions of Interest (EOIs), and Statements of Qualifications (SOQs). Travel flexibility for site visits and meetings from time to time is essential to ensure project success.

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate must have experience in managing contaminated site investigations and environmental remediation projects, with 10–15 years of direct experience in the consulting industry.

A background in Engineering, Geoscience, or Environmental Technology, with a focus on site investigations, remediation, risk management, and environmental monitoring, is required.

Professional accreditation as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.), or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) in Alberta is essential.

A valid driver’s license is necessary.
