Senior Environmental Planner

Primary Responsibilities

HDR seeks an experienced environmental planner to grow and support our Environmental Services practice in the Water Resources market.The successful candidate for this position will have applied experience in environmental analysis, particularly with task management, monitoring progress and workflow, quality control, establishing schedules and preparation of transportation National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation. This person will be expected to lead environmental planning tasks and projects, assign tasks and work collaboratively with resource specialists and engineering teams to develop and screen project alternatives and prepare technical reports. Experience working on and leading large water resources environmental planning projects in the West and Rocky Mountains region is preferred, as are established relationships in the industry and region with federal and state agencies, local municipalities, and water districts.

Preferred QualificationsProject management experience on smaller projects preferred, task management experience required.Experience focused on NEPA planning in the transportation, energy, or water markets.Ability to interpret and apply NEPA legislation, implementing regulations, and Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) guidance.Experience leveraging client relationships to develop additional business opportunitiesStrong writing and communication skillsDemonstrated ability to participate collaboratively on project teams, and diverse technical teamsMaintain effective relationships with external and internal stakeholdersGIS and/or graphics skills preferred but not requiredPreference given to local candidates

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or closely related fieldA minimum of 10 years technical and/or field experience in complex environmental planning projectsProficiency with MS Office SuiteSelf-starter with excellent writing and communication skillsStrong conceptual, organizational, problem-solving and research abilitiesTechnical and/or field experience dealing with environmental impact issues, associated permit processes and documentation preparation/reviewAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions.
