Based out of our office in Calgary, Alberta, you’ll provide technical guidance regarding environmental planning and permitting to our multi-disciplinary teams (engineering and environment practitioners) and infrastructure clients. As a Senior Environmental Planner, the successful candidate will also use their in-depth knowledge to provide strategic input to the growth of the business, participate in business development efforts and mentor our environmental planning team through on-the-job opportunities. This flex contract position will be a 6-month contract. There is potential for contract extension or conversion to full-time employment based on performance and anticipated workload.

* B.Sc. or M.Sc. in a Natural Resources related field (biology, environmental planning, ecology, forestry, or geography) or equivalent work experience.
* A minimum 15 years of experience in the natural resources sector, preferably in a consulting environment.
* Strong technical writing skills and familiarity with environmental regulations and requirements.
* Demonstrated experience collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team with a focus on mentorship and contributing to the preparation of environmental assessments for a diverse range of projects.
* Experience engaging with regulatory agencies, stakeholders and Indigenous communities.
* Experience providing strategic advice to clients and internal teams by identifying risk and opportunities for value add.
* Experience leading business development efforts.
* Strong time management skills, with the ability to simultaneously work on multiple tasks/projects and meet project deadlines.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Positive attitude, self-motivated with strong initiative.
* A driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract for client meetings.
Ideally, you’ll also have:
* Experience working with a diverse range of industrial sectors such as oil and gas, mining, and energy.
* An interest or experience in Project Management is an asset.
