Position Specific Description
This position will be based in NW Florida at either the Gulf Clean Energy Center or Plant Smith, with the requirement to travel between the associated locations within the region. The selected individual will be responsible for oversite, strategy and compliance activities associated with all related CCR, CCRMU and groundwater activities for the NW region PGD; Provide necessary technical expertise to resolve environmental matters; shape environmental policies and regulations to benefit the company and stakeholders.
Additional Duties & Responsiblites:
Provides timely technical leadership (advice, interpretive guidance, or other assistance as requested) to internal and external stakeholders to ensure cost-effective conformance to environmental requirements for both state and federal programs. Assures implementation of necessary environmental monitoring and reporting systems and timely and accurate reports and notifications to agencies in accordance with permit and legal requirements. Maintains and tracks budgetary dollars for the program. Leads, with limited direction, projects such as sampling plan directives, monitoring well installations and prepares necessary environmental documents and reports. Leads, with limited direction, negotiations with appropriate stakeholders to obtain approvals, licenses, and permits meeting operational needs of the program. Advises and directs consultants on strategy and work implementation for pre and post closure activities. Maintains a high level of subject matter expertise in accountable environmental / technical discipline(s) to provide expert guidance to management and operating business units and provide environmental assessments and audits as needed. Identifies and communicates environmental risks to supervisor and performs regulatory reviews. Maintains inspection frequency and compliance tracking documentation. Resolves critical environmental non-conformance regulatory matters through negotiations with compliance authorities and operating entities to the best interest of the company. Responsible for mitigation strategy and implementation. Identifies environmental trends and initiatives to communicate risks to facilities. Coordinates input to influence environmental regulatory processes and to influence environmental requirements.
This position performs as a subject matter expert for environmental compliance matters supporting PGD on CCR,CCRMU and groundwater related issues. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing, maintaining, and performing environmental compliance activities such as strategy implementation, reporting & sampling. This position will typically be Mon-Fri and must be able to respond to overtime, weekends, holidays, and off-hour callouts as needed.
Highly Preffered Candidates will have:
B.S. in Chemistry or related science with a minimum of 25 qtr hours of Chemistry. Related science includes Biology and Environmental. We will consider qualifying experience. 3-5 years Industrial experience as in the specified in the Position Description.
