Senior Epidemiologist - Marketed & Late Phase Assets (all genders)
Global Medical and Evidence (GM&E) puts great emphasis on developing and implementing evidence strategies to support product value proposition, positioning, and differentiation. The aim is to apply an integrated approach to evidence generation across functions, geographies, types of data and evidence generation. The Real World Evidence Center of Excellence (RWE CoE) within GM&E bundles (pharmaco-)epidemiological and methodological expertise, best practices, and state-of-the-art research capabilities related to the collection, analysis, and application of real-world data and evidence to support Product Teams (PTs) and GM&E TAs (Global Medical & Evidence Therapeutic Areas) in developing and implementing evidence generation strategies and plans.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Contribute to the definition of relevant research questions according to the integrated evidence plan applicable for/addressable by observational studies, addressing business challenges identified by GME leads or Evidence Leads or evidence generation teams
With a high degree of epidemiological / pharmaco-epidemiological methods expertise design and execute observational studies in close collaboration with cross-functional groups (with a focus on methodologically more ambitious studies for authority acceptance, e.g. post-marketing safety and comparative effectiveness studies)
Design and execution of observational studies in close collaboration with cross-functional groups. The focus is on conducting effectiveness/safety and comparative effectiveness (CES) and safety studies for marketed products and launch products in cardiorenal/heart failure
Identify epidemiology methods, relevant data sources and assess utility/suitability for observational studies in collaboration with methodological experts and internal customer functions
Provide epidemiological perspectives, expertise, and recommendations in identification and design of observational studies, hybrid (interventional/non interventional) studies such as pragmatic trials, studies incorporating multiple data sources linkages and digital tools, patient preferences, sophisticated analytics, etc.
Serve as Bayer’s internal expert on epidemiological topics to address needs from a broad customer base, including but not limited to Research, Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, Pharmacovigilance, Market Access, and Commercial
Provide input on epidemiological activities/studies relevant to benefit risk management plans (RMP), clinical development submissions, other drug development and regulatory-related activities
Contribute to Partnerships initiatives for the identification and establishment of appropriate external research/methods groups/data sources, ensuring integrated evidence generation needs are met
WHO YOU ARE
A Medical degree and/or a Life Sciences degree with a post-graduate qualification in Epidemiology (MSc, MPH or PhD) or a Life Science degree with a PhD in Epidemiology
Several years of Epidemiology and Pharmacoepidemiology experience, including some of that experience in industry or a regulatory agency (e.g., EMA or FDA) or in a public health/academic institution with strong links to industry; experience in Cardiovascular, Metabolic and/or Kidney/Renal diseases is a plus
Application of in-depth medical knowledge and expertise in the design, initiation and conduct of methodologically ambitious epidemiological studies including data platform studies, comparative studies, and/or post-launch safety studies for medical benefit-risk assessments
Demonstrable ability to design, direct and complete epidemiological observational research projects is required
Strong analytical skills and ability to apply statistical and epidemiological methodology in research projects as well as understanding of risk management strategies and risk minimization programs ·
Familiarity in the use of key source or harmonized US/EU medical and claims databases and practical experience with the Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership (OMOP) Common Data Model (CDM) according to the OHDSI approaches is a plus
Very good interpersonal and communication skills as well as ‘soft leadership skills’ that facilitate cross-functional buy-in and engagement
Strong oral and written skills, including presentations and publications in English and local language
This role can be filled in Germany (Berlin or Wuppertal) United Kingdom or Scandinavia or USA (East Coast).
